Guest guest
Marsha, Your letter was great!!! I thank you so much for responding. Yes I had an endometrial biopsy one year ago when the fibroid was 5 week size. We ruled out any abnormal tissue changes. Eighteen months later it is 8 week size (and a few little ones) and I am in that " watch and wait " mode with on-and-off discomfort. It's so weird, though...when my period starts, my stomach gets flat, (as if the fibroids are being washed away by menstruation)....then as soon as it ceases, that " baseball in the uterus " feeling comes right back and stays on and off for the next 3 weeks...until I start again. Since you say the ACOG (Academy of Obstetrics/Gynecologists) does not condone hysto as a woman's first option with fibroids, this pleases me. Do you by any chance have their website address so I can email them? I would like to carefully review all my options as you said. I will do whatever I can to avaoid surgery until I cannot handle the discomfort any longer. I pray it doesn't get to that point. At age 46, and menopause somewhere in the next 5-6 years, I am anxious to go into menopause naturally and not surgically for all the reasons you mentioned. I read Dr. Lee's book about natural progesterone cream. I have used it for one year with wonderful results except the shrinkage of the fibroids. The bleeding has calmed down A LOT, the sore-to-the-touch, tender " balloon-like " breast situation is gone completely, I sleep so much better at night, and the PMS/mood swings have also been reduced. I wish there was a natural way to shrink these unwanted fibroids. Some women have been fortunate in that it has ocurred for them without surgery, by natural means. I have even heard of Shark's cartilage in powder form used by grams per body weight as a means of shrinking them. I have heard there is a Dr. in Houston that actually uses this treatment with success. have you heard about this? I would surely welcome any suggestions (or related stories) on shrinking them naturally. Every now and then someone mentions something about Vitex, Sharks cartilage, green tea, etc...... Thanks from my heart, Beth

Guest guest
Beth, It used to feel like it went away some days. Now I am aware of it every day....not every minute...but usually once or more an hour. Just feels " big " cumbersome.... If I open a window that's hard or even just sitting here, I am aware of it. no pain...just awkward and big..a sensation.. how about you? Guest guest
Beth, We have very similar situations...46...similar sized fibroid...I am in the " wait and see " time presently....thanks, Marsha for all your great posts. You , beth , have tried more things then I have. I have talked to a Dr about UFE. Carla's post about sexual loss of orgasmic response concerns me in terms of the UFE option....I have only been having orgasms through oral sex or insertion for one yr. (vrs masterbation...longer) and I sure don't want to lose what I have found with a wonderful sweetheart. Becky
Guest guest
Carla, I wrote long while back concerning my fibroid, I had an ultrasound done and it was 7.5 cm. it has not given me any probs in awhile. But lately I have noticed tiredness on and off. usualy right after period. My period is only 2 days though now, has been for about 7 months. usually first day is quite heavy, but not extremely bad, i might go through 3 or 4 pads, then day too a bit less heavy, then day three, just light spotting. So the blood loss is less then it was a year ago, way less. I realized though, that I had not been keeping up with my vitamins so I started back on them again, but did not realize my multivitamin had iron already in it, in fact alot of iron, so I was doubling my dose, because I also took an iron tab. I was just wondering if the too much iron can make you tired. I decided to take a go at just eating foods high in iron to give my body a break from the tabs and give it something the would absorb better in my system. I got a bit worried cause after the heavy dose of iron i had black stools, thats when i realized that my multi had too much iron in it already. It might be a good idea to let women know not to take too much iron cause that can be bad as well. Sincerely deb
