Yah. 243LAI was used for the same purpose. It was registered to Suk, Greak and Bang, Anes. We always read names so they were " pronounced " in the normal naming manner. (What was displayed as , O & J would be read as " registered to O and J " over the air. Vehicles registered to two people with different last names would also be read so their individual names were said like introductions.) We dispatchers pretty much recognized 243LAI when we heard it. Even the first couple of times, most of us reviewed it first before we read the names back phonetically. We had an older dispatcher (older then than I am now!) who NEVER reviewed stuff and would read everything " cold " over the air. They caught her with that plate and we all half-died, snickering into our cups of coffee. She DIDN'T think it was funny. <shrugging> One of my favorite co-workers moved away for a couple of years. For whatever reason, she returned to us and shortly afterwards, a fairly new officer requested registration on 243LAI. I turned around in my chair, but she had it back within seconds. I needn't have worried. After a quick glance, she rolled her eyes and depressed the transmit bar to say, " [unit], negative on your registration - I'm NOT a new dispatcher. " Busted!
