Guest guest
DMV registration renewal by mail has created an interesting phenomena: illegible information. Hard to complete the fields in those cases, obviously. One night - recently, as a matter of fact - I advised an officer that the city of registration was " NOT LEGIBLE. " I mean, I said it in a fairly easy-going, comfortable manner. " And, unfortunately, the city of registration is not legible. " The officer replied, " Spell it phonetically and I'll see if I can sound it out. " (Helpful kind of officer, wasn't he?) So, carefully and distinctly, I enunciated, " 10-4. The city of registration is, phonetically, Nora Ocean Tom, next word Lincoln Ida Boy Lincoln . NOT LEGIBLE. " His reply: " Oh. Uh...... gotcha. Thanks, Monterey. " I couldn't resist adding, " Well, it's probably hard to type a scribble in a computer. Want the zip code? It's not local.... " Too bad there wasn't an R/O present to help that poor officer with his vehicle storage paperwork, huh? Happy to be here, proud to serve.
