Yes, I talked to Dr. Staus when we first had to vacate our home because of Stachybotrys mold contamination. He said a sure sign of how heavily contaminated our house was had been indicated by our sick animals, dead fish and dying house plants. You can post my message along with your answer to Sickbuildings if you like. I usually don't think about it and probably didn't understand how to do it. We still struggle daily and in many different ways with brain fog. I graduated from law school in 1996 and now have brain fog. That is outrageous. In the past I have been an excellent typist. Now I have to very carefully read what I write because I type in some unbelievable letters, etc. To me it shows definite neurological damage because I used to be a typing teacher and the errors I now make are not normal typing errors. My husband does the same thing. And our dear daughter who is 14 has it the most difficult in public school. There she is allowed no grace. We have a small ozone machine and use it in our apartment on occasion when we are gone. I cannot be around it for very long. It has made me very ill in the past so we never leave it running when I am in the apartment. We take ours for travel also. I will let you know as I learn more about the ozone saunas. I would like to try one, but won't try it without checking with my doctor first. Blessings, Marilyn Schrock

Dear and Marilyn,

I'm very moved by your account of both your own sufferings and that of your animals. I don't know if you have posted this to the site. I know it's all very personal, but this is what we all are: personal, human-scale life forms! Information shared about ourselves impacts us directly and gives us much more to use, in our own experiences. Besides, it is a way of making new friends who really understand what we are going through.

When I post something at the site and people respond directly to me, I send a direct response back to them -- and post my answer to them at the site, without their e-mail. This way, privacy is protected -- but the communication is incomplete, for other readers. If people can, I hope they will share with us -- posting first personally and cc: to . That way, we all benefit -- and we encourage those who don't ordinarily participate in this sharing (but who regularly read the reports as posted) to join our new "family."

I'm glad your animals are recovering, but sad that you are no longer able to have them in your lives. Again, thank you for sharing this information. I'm still trying to educate the owners of the building where my pets and I were exposed to toxic mold -- and they are still not really believing they have a problem. Human response is too often dismissed as, perhaps, the response of someone "particularly sensitive" (at best) or even "psychologically caused." When pets are sickened and die, it is a wake-up call!

Love and Light,

Dear , Yes, our animals got very ill. Our german shepherd dog lost his hair as Winter was coming to Kansas. That got our attention. Our cat kept getting very ill--vomiting and losing his hair right down his spine. We would take him to my Mom's and he would get well. Then when we took him back to our house, he would get sick again. We did this 3 times before we learned it was the house. Our fish died and so did our house plants. My husband lived in that house for 20 years. His previous wife died in 1993 of liver cancer. I married him in Feb. 99 and my 13 year old daughter and I moved into his home. Immediately I began getting very ill. I had a metallic taste in my mouth. My mouth was full of very old amalgams which began to decompose. So I have them removed during that year! What timing!!!! I only got more ill and gained 35 pounds! Our dog is wonderfully well now. We gave him to a farm family. That was a heartbreak but we could not keep him as we were living in an apartment. We send our cat back to my Mom's and he is doing very well. I think the animals have done better than we have because they have never had amalgams, root canals, jaw bone cavitations or abscesses, childhood vaccinations, never worked in industry, and have lead a pretty sheltered, stress-free and mostly outdoor life in rural Kansas. Thanks again for your information. Marilyn Schrock
