Guest guest
I've been told NOT to take Tylenol (which is processed by the liver). Ibuprofen (Datril, Motrin, etc.) is processed by the kidneys, which my Dr. prefers. I know others here have had recommendations to only use Tylenol. Beats me - I use ibuprofen. By the way, I " crashed " in 1996 at about 20 mph. Cracked my bicycle helmut and imprinted the top of my glasses in the foam. Only significant injury was road rash. I sent my helmet back to Bell with my story and received a " Saved by the Bell " certificate and a new helmet at cost. Pretty effective advertising! Hope you recover fast. Take care. Guest guest
Mike and Martha, I was told to take ibuprofen and not acetaminophen before I had my transplant for the same reason that Arne gave. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is processed by the liver and it is best to go as easy on the liver as possible. Overdoses of Tylenol have caused liver failure and if your liver is not working well it would be easier to overdose. Post-transplant I take Tylenol because my liver is back to normal and the immunosuppressant drugs I take stress the kidneys - so now they get babied. Guest guest
Tim, My GI told me to avoid ibuprofin because it can cause UC flares -- so I take plain old aspirin.
