You will get a lot of good advice from this group of people. I do have a formula for calculating your HbA1C. It would not be 100%, but it would give you an idea of what it will be based on your testing. Let me know if you would like for me to send this to you. I know a lot of people rely on natural remedies, vitamins, etc. However, you may want to ask your pharmacist or doctor if any of these remedies/vitamins/minerals can cause an interaction with your other medications. I would suggest that you keep a journal from now until your doctor's visit of everything you eat, the amount and your BG reading 2 hrs after each meal. Please let us know what the doctor recommends. I am interested. Eunice

Guest guest
I have had success in lowering my bsl by drinking pure carrot juice. Doesn't taste all that great but it lowers it quickly and safely. I also try to take flaxseed oil table and ginsing -- have been negligent in this lately and no change so it must not be doing much overall. Guest guest
Just a suggestion, but I was taking Avandia along with Glucophage. My BG came under control, way under control, I was getting real low readings like 50- 100. But this took quite awhile. I had to be taken off of it, but now my BG for the last three months was 109. One theory is that it jump started my liver into using my insulin correctly. It did have one side effect...I swelled something terrible. It was never related to the drug. Only when I came off did my swelling come down. Now this is a side effect, not one that happens to EVERYONE. Check with your doc and see what he has to say. Guest guest
I too was drinking carrot juice, but I thought is tasted pretty good. I used organic only and this really made a big difference in the taste, quite yummy actually. The regular carrots taste so watery. One more thing, be careful, carrots are complex carbohydrates, and have a very high sugar content. This did not bother my BG, but everyone's system is different. Email me if you like, I extend to invitation to all.

Guest guest
I myself bought a juicer, expensive but well worth the investment. Don't but buy one of those cheap ones, such as Jr. juice. It will burn out after about 6 months. I paid approx. $200.00 for mine, but it is well worth it. I went on the Internet and typed in juicers. Gave me pages of different brands and prices and what to look for. GOOD LUCK! Twofeetofpain <Carol> Oh, one more thing, they do sell the canned variety of carrot juice, but ugh, the taste has something to be desired. Of course everyone's taste is different. Guest guest
<<<<I have had success in lowering my bsl by drinking pure carrot juice.>>>>> -------- Wow! If I did that my BG level would go through the roof. Carrot juice is practically pure sugar. I would think it would be excellent for someone who's lvels were too low and needed a quick fix, sort of like OJ. in Seattle...T2

I guess this is the reason that doctors/educators have a hard time explaining what needs to be done to control diabetes. They can make suggestions/recommendations but since each individual is different, each person has to learn by trial and error. Hi Rennie, Since I started using this formula, I'll find myself doing it on a weekly basis. I've even done in on a daily basis when my BG's have been a little high. I find it very interesting. Wish we would get some rain. It is very hot and muggy here in Central Virginia. Rain is predicted for today. I'm praying that it will happen, but not serious storms. Don't think I have seen it in the grocery store, but haven't looked. Now I will. I was thinking it was a juice you would get from a health food store. I'll try it just to see what it does to my BG's. That is the only way we learn what we can and cannot eat or drink. Eunice

Guest guest
I think it is in how much you eat as well. I only drink about 3 oz of it at a time and it dramatically lowers mine -- usually 20 points or more. I found out about this when doing an internet search on " lowering blood sugar " it was recommended by a Eastern Doctor.
