Guest guest
Hi dear friends, I hope everyone is doing well. You're all on my mind often, but I haven't had a chance to read email for quite a while. I finally got to speak to Iris yesterday (what a treat - I've missed her to pieces!) and I am trying to get in touch with Deb. Deb, if you're reading, I'll be calling, dear friend. Things have been SO incredibly crazy for me. If I didn't have RA, it would be tough. With the RA, it's insane. I'm working 14 hour days (at least). I went to NYC before Thanksgiving with my mom (had two free air tickets that had to be used) and I got INCREDIBLE coats and have made valuable business connections there. I'm still selling my Macy's stuff, as well as the wonderful boots and shoes I get in South Florida. But with the holiday selling season coming to a close quickly, I've had to hire someone to give me a hand. Matter of fact, even my mom is doing admin stuff from Atlanta. Who would have thought???? So, every time I think to sit down and read or write, the phone rings (oddly enough, as I was typing that the phone rang!) I was so happy to see the info on the FluMist vaccine, and that's just what I suspected. I got my flu shot in plenty of time, but Stan didn't. There's none to be found here. Oh well. He's been in most all of the western states (he drove to SLC combining business with a trip to see his kids) and I was in NYC and then in TN for 3 days (we got a cabin in Gatlinburg for Thanksgiving weekend.) TN is a high risk flu state, but I think I'm OK. I have a low grade " something " (cold, virus, flu - not sure), but I'm still functional. It does have me concerned, though. It looks like I'm about to go on Humira (they just need one bank statement that I'm sending today). I will certainly avoid crouds once I'm on it. Question: Are any group members on Humira now? Doing well? I'm excited at the prospect of possibly getting rid of the MTX and the pain meds. I should be on the Humira in Jan - and I'll qualify for the ebay group insurance in Jan, as well! Although I'll need the Humira assistance still because the RA will be a pre-existing for a while. How are you doing post-op, dear TESS? KATHI in OK, I saw the beginning of the post from you and I'm glad to see you're doing well. Kathy in IL - how are you doing? ALAN, how is the Remicade going? I hope it's your magic bullet. PAULA, how are the headaches? I hope they're a thing of the past now. GINA, I'll bet you're excited to have the family (your daughter from college, especially) home for the holidays. DEB, DEB, DEB... call me! We've been playing phone tag forever. And of course our MAURITUS MOMMY --- I hope all is wonderful with Fabian! I had a dream you were expeciting a little girl. That's not the case is is... ;-) If I've missed anyone, please don't be hurt. I love each and every friend from the group. There are so many new names now! My name's Carol, and I have RA and live in Orlando. I've opened my own " ebay store " selling women's clothing, shoes, coats, and handbags. I wanted something to do where I could work from home, and if I'm flaring I could take the week easier. Guess what? It worked! But I don't seem to be able to take it easy. After the holidays, LOL. To all my old (but youthful!) friends, and my new ones as well, HAPPY HOLIDAYS! I'm grateful beyond words for the friendships I've made here, the information I've received, and the support that I know is an email away. My love to all, Carol
Guest guest
Thanks for popping in and giving us an update, Carol. We've missed you, too. That's fantastic that your business is going so well. I'm so glad you're going to qualify for the insurance soon, and I hope that Humira works very well for you. Yes, the holidays are nice. The kids and I will have a lot of time to spend together. comes home next Friday or Saturday. Hope you'll avoid the flu and feel good enough to enjoy the season! Guest guest
Hey /Fl...Great to see you posting but not so great about the dizziness and terrible pain you are suffering. You may have your reasons for not wanting to go to the emergency room. But I think /LA has a good point. It may be the only way you can get immediate relief with that excruciating pain. If I was in your condition, honestly I would go to er. Unless Sue knows of a top Naturopathic Physician in your area who can give you relief. I had to lay down for the past hour as I felt an overwhelming exhaustion. A little pain in my left hip today, slight headache and weakness in chest. But otherwise I'm okay and there is no comparison to what you are going through. And no-one should have to suffer the kind of pain and condition you are in. Without knowing what your current diet is here are just a few tips. NO alcohol. NO soft-drinks. No gluten-containing grains. Especially NO wheat. NO sugar. NO processed or refined foods as in packets, jars, cans etc. Absolutely NO transfats - only cold-pressed unrefined good oils. Transfats (as I am sure you know) will poison your body and make you very ill with all of the symptoms you are experiencing. NO stressful, toxic people. There are probably other tips but you know my brainfog . LOL I/others will look for info either in our database or elsewhere that may give some relief to you. And to all of us. I don't know that there's any instant natural healing for pain. But will look around today/tomorrow and see what turns up. I think it is more about pain prevention. Proper diet, rest, meditation, self-talk therapy (the subconscious believes what you constantly repeat) prayer, loving thoughts, meditation, a loving partner etc. I know Sue has mentioned Mindfulness Therapy and others. And when you are able a tiny walk each day and then a tiny bit further to keep the body moving. Hope this helps you for starters and whatever ideas other kind people offer. As your problem is our problem. So we do all really understand how you feel and how deeply it affects your life. Keep your chin up and I will email you later as well. Love & hugs Carlene > > Hi all thought I'd post and say hello; been reading posts from my phone just haven't responded, been pretty bad, but I know you all understand. I don't know when I'll start to feel better, but wanted to get back on and say hey. Hubby has had to carry me lately, since everything has been so bad; really don't know where to go from here. I always try not to take the narcotics as directed but been taking mine every 3-4 hrs and could take them more often but won't. I've tried baths but nothing. Maybe if someone has any ideas that would be wonderful. It's my entire body with the worse right now being my shoulders, pain between my shoulders and elbows but a strange kind of pain. When I bump it or even slightly move my arms any which way I get such a horrible pain that only gets worse before it gets better. I keep falling and constantly need help getting anywhere. Because of the pain I also can't drive since I can't turn the wheel or even react quickly. There is so much more but don't want to bore you all. > > If any of you have any ideas on how to help this pain please feel free to let me know. I apologize to anyone that I haven't responded to their emails. We've had some cool evenings but nothing to speak of and it definitely affects me, although would love to see snow, just couldn't bear living in it. > > Love to all /FL >
