Guest guest
Hi Debi, This is Debbie/DJ and I live in Virginia Beach, VA. I just had surgery 3 weeks ago on my knee where the surgeon opened up the back of my knee with a zig zag incision beginning below my knee going up into my thigh. He opened up and moved everything in the knee in order to create a channel for the peroneal nerve through the center to provide it with some cushion. He had to detach and reattach the gastrocnemius muscle from the femur to do this. It is experimental, never been done before anywhere, and it seems to have been successful so far. He said it will really be 3 months before we can tell but I already feel better. My knee is not so swollen anymore, only the back swells now and I am healing nicely. The scabs are getting ready to fall off and there are no open sores, no infection or anything just a lot of bruising. He kept me in the hospital on an epidural drip for pain control for 3 days but epidurals dont' work for me as my body pushes everything to the left of the epidural cavity. The surgeries and treatments are all for my right leg which is the one with RSD. Anyway, if the surgery will lessen pain not caused by RSD it should ease your overall pain tremendously. I am of the thinking that if something is setting off the RSD and you take care of that issue, your RSD will in turn settle down. That is what I have found to be true for me and I hope that same holds for you Debi. If you trust your doctors and know they are good and they care, things should go well. Just make sure they take RSD precautions and all should be fine. I wish you luck and want you to know I will be thinking of you on the 26th as you go to the OR. Take care, Debbie/DJ ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Juno now offers FREE Internet Access! Try it today - there's no risk!
