Guest guest
Repetition has come up in many previous threads. Why are we so sensitive to it? Is this a defining factor of 4S? I can't necessarily say " I hate the sound of sniffling " . I don't particularly like it, but if I don't know you, you're sniffling more than likely won't bother me (unless it's really obnoxious). But once I get to know you, it will. But not only will your sniffling bother me—also your breathing, your sighing, your yawning, your feet shuffling, your hands moving, the way you blow your nose, the way you hold a napkin. I didn't notice any of these things before, but now they make me squirm, they make me angry, the make me want to explode. I would assume that ever human being experiences problems with familiarity. Friends, couples, coworkers, etc. notice more faults and have less tolerance as time goes by. How do I know if this is all that I'm experiencing, or if it's something in my nervous system that I can't control? I tell people that I have " sound sensitivity " , yet my list of triggers include things that have nothing to do with sound. Maybe I should tell them that I have " sense sensitivity " . It started with sounds, and continues to be primarily sounds, but repetitive visuals or traits also " make me want to go crazy " . There has been talk about SPD. I have looked into that hoping to find something, but there is no pattern there. I also fit into some ADD symptoms and totally contradict others. 4S seem to be what fits perfectly. I'm just trying to understand and cope. 4S doesn't affect my ability to interact and relate with people—I'm even considered " sociable " , " friendly " and " outgoing " , but it does greatly affect my ability to have close long-term relationships—in which I can become " mean " . The more I get to know a person, the more they seem to trigger me. The repetitive, day-after-day things that they do drive me insane. Anyone else? Thanks for letting me ramble. At least I know you all understand. Saludos, Cate
