Guest guest
, I couldn't agree with you more. Antibiotics are prescribed to get us out of the doctors office. Unfortunately, some people EXPECT to get antibiotics for themselves or their kids whether they need it or not. We went to a pediatrician for a while (a short while) that was an antibiotics fanatic. I took the boys in one time for a wellness exam (no problems whatsoever) and she suggested I put them on antibiotics cuz one had a slight pinkness in his ears. I filled the Rx took it home and decided to throw it away. The boys never did get sick. had a few ear infections as a baby and was put on some mild antibiotics each time. I don't remember that he ever had a chronic problem with ear infections so I don't think he was on very many. But I don't doubt that a few people could be affected by being on antibiotics and others not. Your theory certainly makes sense. Thanks for your input. We must alert everyone we know that when children are given antiobiotics they must take yogurt or acidleophilus (sp) tablets to make sure we do not kill off good bacteria. When was the last time you were warned about this problem from any doctor or druggist? We should all read The Yeast Connection and really find out about the over prescribing of antibiotics. In the last year, I know of three people in my family and friends that have come down with strange autoimmune diseases and all of them have taken antibiotics without using yogurt or acidolphilus tablets. Including my husband, who was diagnosed with PSC in November 98. (Mitch, Atlanta) Sorry, I am a new poster and have been reading these postings for over a year now and never responded. So I felt it was necessary to warn people about the side effects of antiobiotics. You read about it in the newspapers with all these staph infections that are going around the hospitals that are antiobiotics resistant. We are suffering from the over use of antibiotics at an alarming rate and really no one knows the full impact of how this has affected us. It would be interesting to find out about how many of you with PSC have been given antiobiotics for minor ailments and did not take yogurt or acidolphilus tablets. My theory of why some people have this disease is because of the breakdown in the immune system from the loss of good bacteria from the over use of antiobiotics. Maybe some people could let me know. It is alarming to me that children are given antiobiotics with such frequency even after being warned that we as a society are going to suffer in the long run from this problem and still doctors give them out like candy. , (husband Mitch, PSC dx. 11/98, age 45) ______________________________________________________
