Guest guest
Hi all, In the Greater Philly area, today, there were special reports on the 6AM news about how some Dr. / scientist has been conducting studies on our brain's reaction to food. For those that were " fat " , the food images seemed to " light-up " the brain and for those that were skinny, the food seemed to not make a difference in the brain waves. {Stepping onto the presidential podium...} Now... Without a brain scan, I could have told the scientist that there is a difference in the way we look at and think of food. And, I'm not a doctor, either! This is a federally funded study... Gheeze! My tax dollars at work! Now, the scientists are trying to figure out why the brain chemistry differs to enable the " light-up " versus not in this analysis. ...Can't we just have the government provide better maintenance of playgrounds so it can be safe for our children to have fun exercising? Again... Gheeze!!! How many excuses can we make for being fat? This frustrates me to no end! I was HUGE because I was lazy and ate a lot of food. How much more simple can that be??? It's like everyone is supposed to be perfect, without trying to do the right thing, and now needs the justification for our imperfect results. Eating habits and various food types have taken a place in everyone's lives. We eat as a social event, we eat for business meetings, we eat for celebrations, we eat for consolation, we eat for comfort, so food is NOT just for survival in our society. I once heard Bill comment that " we have become a nation of overfed, undernourished people " . This is something we are doing to ourselves. It is NOT a sudden change in our brain chemistry or cellular structure. I don't think our brain chemistry, as an entire nation, over the last decade or so, to pass on the " fat genes " to our children who are now the largest growing population of overweight people. How can anyone possibly get a message through to the government & / or the news media that the answer can be so simple. ...But, maybe we just don't want to hear the answer! {Okay, it's safe. I'm stepping down off the presidential soap box.} I'm too busy with work to let this take my brain cycles, but I just had to vent.
