Guest guest
Congratulations on finishing C2 Fred! Good for you on trying to do what you could while feeling under the weather. Glutamine will definitely help you out with improved immune function. It's best to get it powdered form, not pills. Cheaper by far, plus easier to get in the recommended amount. I take 10-15g per day in my shakes. One scoop is usually about 5 grams. I use EAS or Labrada brands, depend on which one is on sale at the time. You should definitely take some time off between challenges... that is, I recommend a week off from the gym, not your nutrition program. Some light workouts would be fine, but that one week off of the weights will actually benefit you when you come back for C3. I have heard so many stories about people who don't take any time off, then when they finally do, they are amazed at the gains they make when they get back into the gym. So yes, take a week off of workouts, but watch the nutrition intake! And feel better soon! Guest guest
Hi Jen, Thanks so much for your response. It really meant alot! I just ordered a powdered form of EAS Glutamine supplement and it should arrive in time for my next Challenge starting a week from Monday. I just learned about another product called Betagen. It seems that this product has Creatine, L-Glutamine, HMB, CLA all mixed together in one product.. Perhaps it would be better to have one product with all of these rather than buying each of those separately? I already have a container of Creatine, and now I will also have the L- Glutamine also.. Oh yes.. another question. I noticed that in Cottage Cheese, I see something called Glutamic Acid on the nutrition label. Is this the same thing as L-Glutamine? Thanks Again, --Fred > > Hi, > > I came down with a very bad cold last Sunday, and it was rather > > unfortunate because this past week was the 12th week of my second > > BFL Challenge. Taking a week off between challenges is also part of the " program. " The wisdom here is that you have worked very hard and need a week to regroup and rest and recover. When you start your new 12 week challenge at the end of your week of rest, you will find renewed energy and greater focus. Sounds like you are planning to skip this very important part of the program. I suggest you take the week off. Kelley
Guest guest
Amen! Just don't use it as an excuse to take a week from proper nutrition. The mentality that you must take a break from healthy eating means you have not successfully made a lifestyle change. There is nothing wrong with that - it takes time for all of us, but the goal should be to eventually enjoy what you eat every day so you can truly live and enjoy it, for life. I know too many people who " take a break " from nutrition. While the damage they do in one week is not tremendous, it is not the physical damage that I am concerned with. Psychologically, they lose their motivation and drive. They lose the " taste " of healthy foods and revert to the cravings for salt, sugars, and fats. When it is time to begin a new program, they struggle with re-creating the momentum and one week turns into two, then three .. and so on. They end up doing several challenges a year just to revert back to the original success they lost from slipping back into bad habits. Always focus on progress! While your body is taking much needed rest, supply it with healthy, live-giving nutrients to amplify the recovery during the week - don't turn it into regression through fueling your body with junk.
