Hey wanted to start immediately, but had to accept that I needed about 45 days to determine what I am going to do about my practice and how I am going to pay my bills during this time. Guest guest
That is really kind of all of you, but I can’t ask you to do that. I will figure out something. The initial dread that I experienced Friday when I got the news has moved on to irritation that this has happened to me again. Especially after beating it the 1st time during my 1st year of residency. I am coming up with a plan of attack and will let everyone know how best they can help me get thru the next few months. Guest guest
Beth, I only wish we were not so broke because I would basically ignore your humble reply down below. Let me tell you the story of a nice family whose son contracted a tumor on his brain stem halfway thru last season.... Dad had a good job and so they would perhaps loose some income traveling to and from CNY to Boston for his treatments but not all and he worked for a nicer insurance company Liberty Mutual so I don't think he got docked too much pay.... And he still have a his very good BC plan to help pay for most of the care... But ya know what expenses come out of the woodwork for stuff like this even under these kind of fairly good conditions... A mom on our team put together what was possibly one of the greatest of these help this person, family out fund raisers I have ever personally witnessed.... Hockey players from everywhere all over our region came and skated, auctioned and silent bind, bought silcon wrist things, bought raffle tickets, news crews and family of our team took thousands of photos to post and share.... By the end of the day we had raised $56,000.00 and for weeks checks and wrinkled little old lady singles and fives continued to roll in... But honestly, by the time you travel here, eat out there, stay over night somewhere else, loose some income here or there... pay your deductable or other out of pocket expenses, No less KEEP paying your healthcare premiums while not making much if any money, no less lost patient revenue even when you do get back to work and have lost some patients in that time period.... Trust me you are going to need a hand. Please don't be too brave or too humble and nice not to accept help of various kinds at a time like this. These are the times where it is perfectly fine to sit back and let others do what they can when they can.... And it makes those folks feel good about themselves for helping someone in their community or circle of friends and family, so you are really doing them a favor... BTW, although Tommy is still weak and did not get back on skates as of yet and at times he seems a bit affected somewhere by his treatment in terms of sharpness and speech, BUT he is alive and cancer free and a great family still has their boy and brother. And we at Midstate Youth Hockey and all of those other associations that came from Everywhere can all feel good that we did our small part and helped get Tommy and his family thru perhaps what was their darkest hour. A win-win for everyone all around if you ask me. So yes plan for what you can and do the best you can to try and survive this well financially and business, career wise because you will need all of that for sure... But please don't be too proud, too humble, too whatever not to accept some help be it pitching in around the house or office, donations of cash or other material items you may need for home or business, for you will certainly need all of those as well... At times of crisis it really is hard for a doer to accept help and generous offers from others but it is exactly one of the things you will need in spades over the coming months, so please try to get comfortable with and learned to say a well said thank-you. I am sure as an IMP like primary care you have earned this outpouring of support many times over. Hang in there, break a leg, and don't hesitate to ASK for a hand or just a place to vent or cry.... We're all pulling for you, & To: Sent: Sun, April 10, 2011 1:58:01 PMSubject: RE: Biopsy/ Let's Help Beth In Time of Need. That is really kind of all of you, but I can’t ask you to do that.
