Sorry to hear of all your problems, I can see why you are a little down.

Things will have to surely start looking up for you. I will pray that you will start improving soon.

Hi,

I am out of the loop and quite depressed. I have just returned home from the hospital with my first flare of UC. I had a colonoscopy in which 15 biopsies were taken (all neg). I had bleeding for a week after than full scale diarrhea. I had called my doc at the onset but he felt that the colon was quite a mess with many biopsies and not to worry, should stop. Well I was admitted to the hosp. dehydrated, malnourished, enemic and in pain. I was put on IV fluids, TPN, prednisone for 7 days which stopped the bleeding but not the diarrhea so I was put on IV cyclosporine for 6 days, switched to oral and released. Amount of stools has slowed down but i do still have some urgency. I lost 7 pounds which I could ill afford. I will taper down these drugs over the next 4-6 months and hopefully just remain on my colozal. I will have blood work weekly in the beginning. Between this and the PSC (threatening), I think I have finally had my spirits trampled. What have others done?

Sorry not to have to responded to anything important,,,I had about 200 emails on my computer and i'm overwhelmed.

Thanks for Listening.

Ooof! I'm afraid I'm not much help - never had bleeding after colonoscopies

(15 now, I think). They usually take around 10 biopsies.

Do you normally take anything for your UC? I've taken sulfasalazine

(Azulfadine) for almost 25 years now; I seldom have a flareup.

Hope you're feeling better soon.
