Guest guest
Dear Group, I have a quick question about zoloft. I have been taking it (50mg) a day for the last year and half. It has greatly reduced my migrains and mood swings. However, I have gained about 20 lbs. I talked to one of my doctors and asked him if I could stop taking it because of the weight gain and told him that I heard about 5 HTP, a natural seratonin reuptake inhibitor. He told me to give it a try. Well, that ended up being a mistake. I haven't been able to sleep (3 hours was the most in a 24 hour period!!!) I also noticed that when I startd taking the natural stuff, that was when I started gettin the " swoooching " in my head periodically throughout the day. (Like someone would turn on a water hose inside my brain and then turn it off really quick). I also got muscle craps during the night. Well, last night I was having a rough night, short temper, cry at something funny or something sad etc... I told my husband that I couldn't stand the way I was feeling and decided to take 100 mg of zoloft before I totally lost it. Today, I felt great. No sounds in my head, no dizzy spells, had the best nights sleep in two weeks. What i don't understand is how can zoloft be helping me feel this much better? I hate taking meds and had really hoped that this natural stuff would work. Also, does anyone know if ACM affects the chemical balances within our heads and if so, after I have surgery, will my chemicals be more balanced so that maybe I won't have to take zoloft. I have been thinking about trying a different anti depressant (prozac, paxil) and seeing if they would help me just as much and possibly help me get rid of some of the weight. Any suggestions from you all will be greatly appreciated. Love ya. in LV
