No kidding.

She didn't say anything I didn't know, but I'm sure most of you with

kids in the house know that " Oh, God, I don't know what we're doing

about dinner tonight " feeling.

Yes, Bill says plan, plan, plan. I'm working on it.

I also read the riot act to the troops and told them that they were

eating what was on the table dammit. We'll see how long that

lasts. They managed to choke down the Shepherd's pie.

I guess I'm going to have to find more BFL-friendly dinner recipes

and do the meal planning thing a week at a time.

I think I'm getting stuck on the " nekkid chicken breast " image and

Hi Fred!

Thanks for checking in. Good for you!!! Dropping 3 lbs. in challenge 2 is

still dropping 3 lbs! Great job on that BF%. How are your measurements

Good for you Rick. I understand that gout is extremely painful in the sense

that it feels like you've broken a bone or have a bad sprain. So KUDOS to you

for moving forward through the difficulties. We have a member(s) here with

Hi !

You bet 'progress not perfection'. Good for you that you are making the

effort that you can.

Where do you live? I'll get your butt to the gym! [evil grin] Who knows,

maybe there is someone around in your parts that CAN meet you at the gym. I

have to admit that I can find energy sometimes where I thought there was none

when it involves another person. I say, use whatever ways help you get the job

done. But on the same note, after attending the same gym for a while, you

start to get to know the familiar faces. And there develops an unspoken energy

of support that feels like you are together. Amazing, I know.

I'll be pulling for you . Twelve hour days can be rough...I pull a few

myself. Getting my workouts in manages to generate energy despite the fact

that it uses energy too. So I hope you find your way there more often. And for

those times you can not, progress is worth its weight in gold. :D

You could serve authorized foods and unauthorized as well, but you

would only eat the authorized items.

At first glance, I see things that could work and they look tasty. I

love the BBQ chicken recipe. There is several pages where it gives

meal ideas for each day for an entire 12 weeks! You could have the

regular portion sizes and the rest of the family can eat larger

portions since they aren't eating 6 meals per day.

I guess you will just need to try it and adapt. The authorized foods

are pretty easy to prepare and I would think there would be a lot of

things they would eat. If they are used to eating pizza all of the

time, then it wouldn't be too big of a deal to make yourself a

chicken breast and nuke some veggies. For a carb you could have

brown rice (prepared ahead of time) or a sweet potatoe. Of course

there are lots of other possibilities.

Depending on their ages it may be tough to change their habits.

However, I would say that whatever you put on the table, they can eat

or cook for themselves if they don't like it. They can still have

treats, but they should also learn about good nutrition.

12 lbs is great! It may slow down as you lose more, but it sounds

pretty motivating. Keep it up!

Great job on going back to clean eating. I had a bad weekend too,

the scale was up 7 lbs on Sunday and today was down 7.4 lbs. I went

to an all day Lord of the Rings party at a friends house and he fed

I've turned into more of a lurker than a poster recently since I

have fallen off the BFL wagon, workout-wise anyway. I am still

eating clean, but can't yet seem to manage getting to the gym more

than one or two days a week. Still can't get up at 4am to work out,

and just can't bring myself to go more than one evening after

working 12-hour days.

I'd love to find a workout partner to meet me at the gym, then maybe

I'd force myself to go just so I didn't stand them up... I've

actually been searching but haven't been able to find anyone. I

really think the solution for me would be to get a trainer, but I

simply can't afford it right now. And no, that's not an excuse,

it's a fact... I've already cut all the " fat " out of my spending,

and there is no extra for such a luxury right now.

At least I'm eating right, and 1-2 days a week working out is 1-2

more than I was doing before! Progress, not perfection, right? :-)

Kelley, thanks for the good vibes and positive reinforcement! I

know that I would gain energy after a few weeks of consistent

workouts... I'm just having trouble getting going to even get into

and through that initial period. Plus, I've never worked with free

weights before and I just don't feel confident that I'm doing the

exercises properly... a still photo and description from a book just

isn't doing it for me.

I live in Dallas. I've got on the case to see if he knows of

any BFL-friendly trainers in the DFW area who might be able to meet

with me even once every 4-6 weeks.... hoping he'll think of someone!

Last week was a rocky one, but I'm back on track. The difference in

the way I feel between following the program and not is SO HUGE.

It's my biggest incentive. Some mondays I actually feel hung over

from the junk I've eaten on sunday. I don't want to feel that way

anymore. Even my brain works better on this program--my thinking is

clearer and my memory is better. And I love the feeling of burning

clean fuel. It's so true: once you've tried this program, life is

never the same again.

Thanks for all your support!

Which Gym do you go to? I just found a BFL-DFW yahoo group online.

I wonder if they would be able to direct you. Bet there is some

great 'at home' support offered there.

Let me know if something shows up for you out of that.

Kelley, thanks for your research efforts... you're a doll! I've

already trolled in that BFL-DFW group for connections. The group is

all but defunct now, which is sad because it looks like it was quite

active a few years back with group dinners and meetings etc...

anyway, I made contact with one guy there who was active in the

group previously and who used to work as a trainer, and he's offered

to meet with me... however, north Texas is a pretty spread out area

and we live a great distance apart, and given that fact and our

schedules and the holidays, we're yet to coordinate a workable date

& time. But hopefully that will pan out.

I go to 24Hour Fitness. I got reply from another guy who saw my

post on BFL-DFW who said it's supposedly standard practice for the

trainers at 24Hour to make side deals off of 24Hr's books... that

the management knows about it and condones it... however, I

approached the only trainer there that I even know in passing, and

he is not particularly knowledgeable in nor supportive of BFL and he

didn't seem particularly interested in meeting with me the once-in-a-

blue-moon that my budget will allow. And the search continues...

I've also signed up for BFL Meetup in DFW area, but the last two

times it's been canceled since they can't get the minimum 5 people

to RSVP. It seems REALLY strange to me that I can't find some

active BFL'ers in the area. I mean, this is actually a big

cosmopolitan city, not some backwater burg!

Anyway, I'll let you know if I'm able to meet with the first guy and

if so, how that works out.

THANKS AGAIN!

I'm surprised too. I've been hoping we could get something started

in my tiny city of 85,000 people. St. Louis people met for the first

time last month and are going to continue monthly meetings, but that

is too far for me to go.

I've started a Missouri Body for Life group and so far have rounded

up 25 people and a few live closer than St. Louis.

I hope you can find some local support. It seems to me too that

there should be an active group there.
