Guest guest
Very interesting point . I would love to understand that more/better - about the frequency of sound being connecting to 4S. And how it is so. Guest guest
I don't know how easy or hard it would be to get ahold of a real dog whistle, but it sure would be interesting to find out how many people here can actually hear a dog whistle. I googled "dog whistle" and came up with a site where you can supposedly download .wav files of dog whistles (but I can not verify the quality of this site and haven't tried downloading anything yet). Anyway, it might be an interesting experiment - and maybe give more insight into some of what might be behind 4S. http://www.jetcityorange.com/dog-whistle/ - Mom of 4S son From: Soundsensitivity [mailto:Soundsensitivity ] On Behalf Of chylyse VSent: Wednesday, June 09, 2010 11:04 AMTo: Soundsensitivity Subject: Re: SSSS @ 58 I have super hero hearing too. Guest guest
Same story here. When in college I worked at a pharmacy thathad a sonic alarm system that I could hear. They had to disable it when I was working. The sound made my head want to explode.Good always wins. So be good! Guest guest
Maybe more the visual part ( if that is a sub split off the hearing problem) and you can hear through your skin and bone ( not as well as your ears though) so maybe Sent from my BlackBerry® smartphone on 3Sender: Soundsensitivity Date: Wed, 9 Jun 2010 15:25:33 -0700To: <Soundsensitivity >ReplyTo: Soundsensitivity Subject: Re: SSSS @ 58 I wonder if any hard of hearing people have 4s? Guest guest
One of my friends, who has tinnitus and wears hearing aids for hearing loss, was nearly in tears when I told her about 4S earlier this year because she suffers from it too. We'd known each other for over 30 years without knowing about each other's aversions to eating sounds! I don't know how she hears the offending sounds, but she says it is still a problem for her. !??? > > > > Very few if any.....the older you get, the more high fq hearing loss you develop and this is a kind of blessing for people with 4S. > > Dr J >
Guest guest
I'm hard of hearing in the high ranges... so I can't hear dog whistles, but certain ranges are very loud to me. Its like my hearing is compensating for not being able to hear certain sounds. Popping noises, licking, eating... and such drive me nuts. Its very amplified. --Your secrets are safe with me. Guest guest
I discovered 4S on the internet about a month and a half ago. I was so relieved to find out that I wasn't the only one with super hero hearing, but I actually became quite stressed and nearly obsessed with reading and responding to others' messages in this support group. My psychologist told me that it would be best if I stopped doing so, and I did. However, I want to kill myself because 8 days ago I began hearing a ringing noise (tinnitus) in my ears. I can't sleep. I can't think. It is horrible. phumphreys46 how do you deal with this? I also have Fibromyalgia. I have lived with chronic pain for 12 years (I am 28). I used to relish in reading and having quiet time to myself but now being alone is beyond torture. I can't read and I am a teacher-librarian so reading is a huge part of my job. I just want to give up. My doctor has referred me to an Ears, Nose, and Throat Specialist but i haven't been given a date yet. The only time I saw one of these specialists was to see why I heard so many sounds that others rarely seemed to notice. The doctor confirmed that my hearing was better than most. I could hear sounds above and below many people's thresholds. > > > From: richard.t.mckenna@ gmail.com <richard.t.mckenna@ gmail.com> > Subject: Re: SSSS @ 58 > To: " Sound sensitivity " <Soundsensitivity@ yahoogroups. com> > Date: Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 4:36 PM > > >  > > The internet is an amazing place, being able to bring so many people together like this, I hope that the trend continues but soon we can say we have a fix > > I'm only 23 but I have extremely good hearing, I can hear sounds that young children can and adults can not, sometimes dog whistles too so I actually feel sorry for the dogs. > > I know there are many other people here too with exceptional hearing. > > I wonder if 4s has anything to do with the frequency of the sound, but I have no way to test it. > Sent from my BlackBerry® smartphone on 3 > > > From: " phumphreys46 " <phumphreys46@ yahoo.com> > Sender: Soundsensitivity@ yahoogroups. com > Date: Tue, 08 Jun 2010 19:36:31 -0000 > To: <Soundsensitivity@ yahoogroups. com> > ReplyTo: Soundsensitivity@ yahoogroups. com > Subject: SSSS @ 58 > >  > > I accidentally discovered 4S a month ago as I was doing an online search of tinnitus. Guest guest
I am 51 now and I can hear the light bulbs and this morning I heard the water pressure in the irrigation LOUD and as high-pitched as a dog whistle and yes - I can hear a dog whistle. Not sure if triggers are being added because that's just how 4S is or if my hearing is actually becoming better??? Children screaming/squealing is my latest and worst . . . need to actually scream " back at them " to clear the rage from my system. I just found that a good friend who is almost completely deaf has 4S. She gets to turn her hearing aids down!! Started like the rest of us with a family member at age 8 or so and continued . . just like us. Her deafness came on slowly beginning in her 20's. > > I wonder if any hard of hearing people have 4s? > > > >
