Just wanted to say that whilst I can stand my own chewing, sniffing etc, I

really can't stand anybody else doing it, children included :/ Mine also started

when I was around 13 and it was with my mums boyfriend, they've since split up

but it's got to the point where I have to wear earphones all the time and

sometimes sleep with ear plugs in. At least I know I'm not alone :]

their sound sensitivity (4S). That is a common combination. So too is ADHD. I

don't think any of these conditions cause 4S, although 4S certainly adds a lot

of anxiety and distress to any other conditions that we may have. I wouldn't be

surprised if 4S turned out to be an inherited neurological problem, but that is

just a guess at present. There has been no genetic or neurological research, as

far as I know.

am a trigger person for my younger daughter, who also has 4S.

own eating, I think, although some people are.

I was wondering...My anger/anxiety is significantly reduced if the person who is making the offensive sound apologizes beforehand. It doesn't happen often. My friend was pregnant and had an ice chewing craving. She was unaware of my 4S, but one rime we were together and told me she knew how annoying her ice chewing sounds were and asked me if it would bother me if she had some. She chewed the ice with her mouth closed. I still noticed and was bothered by the crunching, but I did not feel the anger I would normally feel if someone was chomping ice.So much of the time I feel so angry at the person making the offensive sound and am disgusted that they don't realize how rude they are (even though it's really me with the problem). Wondering if others feel this way?DorothySent from my iPhone
