Guest guest
Not only have I heard of it, I've been there. and I were going to have our dental work done there but after we figured out that he would have to miss work every time he went, we figured it was no cost savings for us. They do things at student's pace and it would take multiple visits for something an established dentist would do in one. If we weren't so far away and the work wasn't an issue, I'd go. I was impressed with the place. Here's the info on it: http://www.dental.upenn.edu/patients/clinic.html I'm not worried about cookies for us since we don't need them. I usually bake to give as gifts. But this year I'm only baking for my father in law who is a diabetic. I'm trying a sugar free oatmeal banana cookie recipe today. It uses dates and raisins as the sweetener and it all goes in a food processor. My kind of recipe! I'll let you know how they turn out. a > a or anyone else, > Has anyone ever heard of a clinic or something with the U. of P. > for dental work. Guest guest
Lynn, I am new, and don't really know anyone in this group, but I just had to send you a note to say CONGRATULATIONS on your new granddaughter. I have 6 grand kids and they own my heart. Recently my daughter-in-law sent me a picture of a flower garden with pictures of each of the children in the center of the flowers with the caption " Grandchildren are the flowers in the garden of your latter years " ! Each of the children signed their names however they could - all are under 9 years of age! This is a priceless to me. Wishing you joy in the beginning of your life in a flower garden (even if the weeds(RA) do live in our bodies and are worse that crab grass), Gentle Hugs, Carol M. in CA

Guest guest
Hi a, With having the flu for four weeks and becoming a grandmom again on Wednesday, I just today contacted the school of dentistry. I am having a little trouble getting through but it is Monday. They told me the initial fee is 75.00, but now I have to call another number and that is where, I am having trouble getting though. I am certainly going to keep trying. I just wanted to thank you again, we will see what happens. Oh by the way my granddaughters name is Carolyn Grace and she has a full head of black hair, a real cutie. Now I have four granddaughters and one grandson, little . Hope work is working out for you and you are not feeling too tired. Guest guest
Carol, Thank you for your wonderful email. I am having a good time with this grandmom thing. They are such fun. Guest guest
Lynn, Yuck! So sorry it happened this way Lynn. Thankfully it is over and now you will be on the recovery road with no further complications. I have a pet peeve with dentists that don¹t have emergency numbers after hours. My husband had a problem with a root canal that caused severe pain all night, and it was awful waiting for the office to open. We changed dentist to one that had an after hours contact number. Eating isn¹t to much fun, but it will get better. Soon you¹ll be smiling a beautiful smile, showing the world your new set of chompers. Hope today is a better day. a On 5/31/04 11:02 AM, " Ruf-Caimi " <ruf-caimi@...> wrote: > Hi Everyone, a and , > Well I had my teeth out and everything went well. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, sorry you had such an episode at the dentist. One consolation is, you won't need a dentist again. I was fitted with new teeth last Fall and I had a terrible time eating. I had to go back twice for adjustments and they fit fine now, in fact they are hard to get out. I have a terrible gag reflux and to help with this, the dentist suggested Fixodent or Poligrip. This fixed the problem of gagging and makes me feel more secure about eating. I love my new smile now as I am sure you do as well. Hugs June
Guest guest
Hi June, I saw the dentist yesterday to get the stitches out. I started to bleed again but all is well now. I ask him about cleaning the teeth and he told me (no lie) soap and water. I am using the polident tablets I was given in the kit. I think I am going to stay with that plus I am going to buy the dentucreme. I ask my mom and this is what she does. Her teeth always look nice so that is my route. Lynn June Dixon wrote: > Lynn, the polident tablets or any brand are good but I do use the Dentucreme made for dentures as well. I have to confess that I am very vain and don't take my teeth out every night like you are supposed to and without doing this, it is difficult to keep them as clean as I would like. My dentist said to take them out every night and put them in water with a tablet but I also noticed the last time I was there that they sell a special cleaner, so I may pop in and see if it is something I can use to clean my teeth without the hassle of taking them out. If it is any good, I will let you know. > > Hugs > June > > Re: [ ] Re: teeth OT > > Hi June, > I love my new teeth, even if I did have a time of it. So far I am just on soup. I am afraid of starting up any bleeding. I see the dentist tomorrow for a follow up. I am using fixodent. I read on the papers they gave me, not to use tooth paste to clean the dentures. So I am using the tablets they gave me. Do you know anything about cleaning the teeth? I would appreciate any help/. Guest guest
Hi Becky, He took the stitches out yesterday and I started to bleed again. But everything is okay now. I don't think I will follow in your aunts shoes. I wouldn't want anyone to see me without the teeth. I am not sure I like what I see. My SIL and I were talking about that yesterday. She has had her teeth for years and she told me, no one has ever seen her without her teeth. That is how I will be. Your aunt sounds funny. Lynn natesmom4@... wrote: > Are you like my aunt with her little grandkids? She takes her teeth out and shows them. You should see the look on their faces the first time they see that! It's not that she looks bad without them, it's the idea that she tells them their teeth will fall out if they don't brush good and then she pops her teeth out! > > My mom had her teeth pulled last year and she also had severe bleeding. I gave her some of those blue bed pads to lay on and it was good that I did. The first week she had a mess. We were really worried. I had my son stay with her. I don't know how she made it through that. It took her quite a while to get her new teeth to fit right but she's very happy with them now. I guess your gums shrink as they heel and that probably makes it easier. > > Becky > Re: [ ] Re: teeth OT > > Hi June, > I love my new teeth, even if I did have a time of it. Guest guest
My mother bleed on and off for a few weeks so don't be alarmed if that happens, unless it's a lot. Mixed with the saliva will probably appear to look like more than it really is but you'll know the difference because it will not be huge chunks of clots. Try keeping some of those blue bed pads on your pillow or under your pillow case. That way you will only have to wash the pillow case and not ruin the pillow. Tell, hope you are felling okay. I admire you for going through that surgery. I can't even begin to imagine what you have been through. Becky Re: [ ] Re: teeth OT > > Hi June, > I love my new teeth, even if I did have a time of it. Guest guest
She is funny! She's 81 years old now and just had her leg amputated. Even through all that she was funny. One night shortly after the surgery she said that leg that was missing was so cold and it hurt. I told her it was phantom pain and cold and to act like the leg was there and rub it or cover it with a blanket so her brain would react to that. She told me since it was snowing out they probably took her leg and threw it in the dumpster in the alley behind the hospital and there was snow on it!
