Guest guest
Marge Hi...I know this is all so new to and you......You know that being small was a huge fear of my when was young....At age 8 he had been so sick for so long and would be going to the bathroom all night long....10 to 20 times...not getting any sleep ..either of us ...and exhausting himself....He spent most of his time watching Star Wars movies and playing with his legos....Nothing they gave him would stop this....he was on 60 mgs of pred and cortisone enemas....Because his weight was getting so low....32 lbs at 8 yrs old....this is a kid that was 91/2 lbs at birth....he was put in the hosp surgery date was set and we sat with the surgeon to learn what they were going to do with my little boy....He would have most of his bowel removed and have to wear a bag for the rest of his life.....What a nightmare....They were going to try one last resort measure but if that didn't show any improvement then the surgery was a go.....Well I decided that it would work and the surgery would be forgotten....After a week of this kid hooked up to all kinds of meds and IV nutrition the round of doctors came in and I said...Look at his face...I can see a difference....Meaning the prednisone that was being given IV was finally starting to work....all that he had been on at home before he never showed any pred...no moon face etc....he was on SKINNY kid...except for the bloated belly....The docs took me into the hall to tell me not to get my hopes up....Trav had a long way to go.....Well you know we moms.....Well to make a very long story short.... is 22( this coming April) he is just under 6' and is a very normal healthy weight....He jogs and does alot of very physical things in the performance group he belongs to.... AND there was no surgery....Trav has been back in the hosp about 5 times since then...he has been on NO medication for over 2 years now....The main doctor who came up with this treatment for IBD now uses it all the time....It was something new that they had not tried and were not really sure if it would help....Ty gets the same treatments when he is in the hosp. for his IBD..... So let that growth will come.... was almost 18 when all of a sudden he just shot up....He was the shortest in Marching band in his Junior year....shorter than anyone...freshmans...boys and girls....When he came back his senior year they couldn't believe it was him.....Some kids just really grow really late....Ty is still small....although much bigger than he was a year ago when he was about 4'10 " ...his feet were alway so small..all the guys were wearing 8's and 10's and bigger...Ty was in a 5.... Then in one year he went to an 8....his body has to catch up with his feet now.....LOL Neither of my boys were too concerned with their height...it never seemed to bother them....They were strong in their music and others looked up to them because they could play anything they gave them.....and they were both clowns....always making everyone laugh....parents always tell me how much fun they are to have around..... I thought because my daughter who is the oldest and was a tall girl from very early that it would be hard on the boys...but it never seemed to be a topic.....Now Trav is taller than her... Hopefully will not dwell on his size.... Talk to you soon... Luanne Ty's mom
Guest guest
Go to the board web site at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/WTOAdultChildren1/ and open up 'Files' in the table of contents (left side of the screen). You will find the document with the abreviations there. Guest guest
Good for you Beth! I say, screw the third parties. They find ways to screw with us so why cooperate w/them? I discard those notes except the ones that show a pt is doctor shopping w/pain meds or benzos. "The duopoly of American politics no longer allows for a principled anti-interventionist position. Both parties are war parties. They differ mainly in the rationale they devise to argue for interventionism." - Colonel Bacevich, Retired Vietnam Veteran. zell, DO, MPH. 1061 Whispering Lakes Dr. Madison, GA 30650
