Guest guest
Ok, it's been too quiet lately (or maybe it's cuz my email was wacky yesterday) but it's time for everyone to check in and update their progress. So, how is everyone doing??? For me: Life is crazy as usual around here but workouts are still getting done weekly, if not every morning. I've been super tired/sleepy the last few weeks, so I've been trying to make a little more time for that, and I think it's working. Staying on track for the diet part, with a tweak of cutting carbs but not protein after around 6 or 7pm. I was getting a little lax in " maintenance mode " and decided I wanted to get a little leaner. Brett
Guest guest
Crazier here than usual. I went to see a PT about my ankle pain after my long runs. Between the time (a few days) I made the appointment and went to see the PT, my right upper tibia started to hurt on May 13th. This last week, I've noticed a great improvement so I'm hoping it continues. I'm also hopefull my ankle problems will be better when I run long again next month. The PT has been very helpful. I made out a plan last night for weights, running, and biking through October. Nutrition is also getting back on track so hopefully, I'll drop a few lbs. Guest guest
here, checking in from the great state of Illinois (did I just write that, my family in Wisconsin will be falling over dead.) Bert and I are in week 4. I only missed one workout, cardio on Saturday. (Got up early to get the kids to a track meet, how ironic is that? Ended up sick after the meet-so didn't get workout in.) I have been sooooooooo struggling with the nutrition portion. The brat inside me doesn't want to eat to fuel my body. Weight has remained the same. (Actually went up 3 pounds and is finally down.) I haven't done bodyfat measurement 'cause one of my friends has my calliper. Only one person from the group of 15 is doing bfl. She has lost 10 lbs so far! I am so proud of her! Others in the group-two famlies have altered their eating habits and are exercising together. That is all. karen RE: roll call Ok, it's been too quiet lately (or maybe it's cuz my email was wacky yesterday) but it's time for everyone to check in and update their progress. Guest guest
Week 4 of Challenge #2 here. I had a very hard time overcoming the " I deserve to celebrate " attitude. I may deserve it, but it ain't time yet!!! Nose to the grindstone this week. Upped my squats to 160 this week.(I know, I know, baby weight for you guys.) Ran 3.5 miles this morning. Really going to work hard at getting the rest of this fat off. Kids and hubby are doing wonderful. My little ones have been out of school and I love having them home with me! We have been having so much fun! Today in particular I have been having a blast explaining to my youngest son that although I know he doesn't want it, he really needs to start riding a bigger quad and next time we go he will be riding the 80 in the garage. (A nasty looking beat up piece of crap, LOL!!!) Poor little guy is practically begging to keep his 50. Little does he know at the end of this month, when his " ugly 80 " gets taken out of the trailer it will be a brand new Raptor 80 with the " paddle tires " he keeps telling us he needs, LOL! It will be his birthday gift this year. I can't wait to see his face! Hope things continue to get better for you Andy. , Whoo Hoo on the bigger guns!!! Brett, glad to hear things are truckin along for you too! Machelle
Guest guest
Hey, I've been in lurk-mode for so long, it feels strange to post. I'm in Alabama, a school teacher out for the summer. We lost our house in Hurricane Ivan 21 months ago and just moved into the one we rebuilt on our same property (but this one is 16 feet up so it won't flood like the original one). It's so nice to be home!! Never underestimate the value of feeling settled. I've been living the BFL lifestyle since Jan. 2000. It's definitely a lifestyle for me. Eating this way is just habit for me. I love the relaxation of summer when I can work out when I want to instead of squeezing it in when I have to. Even though I never post hardly, I keep up with everyone and love reading about the successes. Sara
Guest guest
Brett, I like the... " Big Guns " Holowko Nick name much better than my former... " Jelly Belly " Holowko :-) I want just about ½ " more on the arms, and I'll feel satisfied. Of course, I still want that ever escaping 36 " pant waist AND to see the scale WAY down to the " two-teens " range, too. Keep thinking... Mind over body! Mind over body! Mind over body! Now, tomorrow is my LBWO and I commit to getting it done; in complete BFL style, naturally. Had a great HIIT exercycle session today! Guest guest
Machelle, It’s so exciting to hear of all your new found energy. I know you’ll be making the right choices over the next 8 weeks. You have so much banked motivation; you may not have to even think twice for the many obstacles others might face. Keep up the great work. Keeping a gift secret like that may qualify as very clever, cool. …Of course, be sure you aren’t breaking down his spirit, as that might qualify as being cruel. I, personally, would likely be totally depressed with the thoughts of my next ride on the old crap-ola, but, I’m not normal! Plus, momma always knows what’s best! :-) Yepper. Whoo hoo is right! Thanks for the compliment. I remember my son’s fiancé commenting to my son on my “guns” a while back and recently my better half carried on the message with a new “guns” T-shirt, so living up to all the talk has been a priority for me. Now, I just wish they would chatter it up about my getting down 40 or 50 pounds, it will help my unconscious mind get me to my goal. Guest guest
It is funny you mention my little guys spirit. I always watch that we don't crush their little spirits. They are so fragile. This one in particular is a bit sturdier than most, LOL! (I think he gets that from his daddy.) My older son on the other hand would be devestated to think he was having to sport the ole' piece o' crap. When he was little I had to be very careful of the tone of voice I used with him cause it would have such a huge effect on the poor little thing. Josh though, that boy is an animal, LOL! I don't mean in a bad way, truth be known, he is plotting how to " modify " it right now. Thanks for the compliments. I am cookin today!!!! Good luck on that LBWO! Hit it hard!!! Guest guest
This is my last week of teaching. My wife is taking a class out of town in the evening and it requires me to get home early. My usual workout time has been about 4:00 in the afternoon, but that is out of the question since I need to be home watching the foster kids. Knowing this caused me to seek a bit of a different workout that I can do at home with the dumbbells. My goal for June is fat loss, after two months of focusing on muscle gain. With that in mind I chose a workout from the newest issue of Men's Health magazine. It is about 30 min long and involves all multiple muscle group movements and is highly aerobic. It alternates 4 exercises between group A and Group B three days a week. I did the first workout Monday and the second (group is tonight. It was a killer workout. The " Turkish Getup " is amazing. My weight is at a 2-month low and I'm hoping to lower my bodyfat percentage below 10% by the end of June. Great to hear from all the rest of you. Guest guest
I'm still here and I'm still doing BFL. I'm on Challenge 2, Week 5 now. I just posted week 4 pics at: http://www.bodyforlife-tracker.com/searchprofile.cfm?id=17688 One of my goals was a 25 minute 5k and I just did a 5k race on Saturday and did it in 25:15 so I'm really close and still have 7 weeks left to hit the goal. If I'm not posting to this forum, I'm definitely lurking :-) -Jon > > Ok, it's been too quiet lately (or maybe it's cuz my email was wacky yesterday) but it's time for everyone to check in and update their progress. Guest guest
Very nice progress for only 4 weeks! At the rate you are going, in 12 weeks, you are going to meet your goal. Guest guest
Excellent work so far! Keep up the great work. Your breakfast really could have been much worse. Andy > > Here I am, lost track of whether I've introduced myself here. I'm 44, 3 kids, a Jack mix dog, and have 50 lbs to lose. I started Sept. 1, and I did enter the official challenge. I am coming out of a very difficult health situation--I was on interferon treatment for a year and lost massive muscle mass, and the drugs messed up my thyroid. My doc finally got me on a good combo of thyroid meds, and I am ready to get my body back. > So far, I've really had a lot of muscle development and some fat loss. I'm taking betagen 3x a day, and I have been really good about the food part of the program (other than this morning when I had 2 whole eggs with toast and butter! That was my first deviation, and I won't repeat it). I have not missed a workout and I am really enjoying my new muscular arms. I will post pictures at the end of 4 weeks. > That's about it for me! > > Best Regards, > beth
Guest guest
Congrats on getting started. The grocery list is key to the program. I buy food one week in advance and always shop with a list. Keeping the right food on hand, helps tremendously. Having unauthorized food in the house is a problem for most people including myself. I can't seem to forget that it is there. Andy > > I'm here too. Was planning on starting the challenge > this week.
