Guest guest
Hi Tom, Your story sounds very much like my husband's. He was diagnosed last year at age 40, and is also asymptomatic at this time. I am sure you will be very glad that you found this group, as it is a great source of support and information. Where do you live and where are you being treated? Liz (husband Jim, dx '98)
Guest guest
I live in Northern Virginia and am being treated by a group of doctors in Reston. One nice thing about this area is that if you need to get sick, this is the place to do it. NIH is just over the river, and there are also some great medical schools in the vicinity--town, Washington, s Hopkins, University of Virginia, et al. Guest guest
Hi Tom/Marilyn, I am glad to see someone from northern VA in the group also. I have a daughter in andria and have considered seeing a doctor at the Fairfax hospital by the name of Vinod Rustgi. Have either of you heard of him? I think he has something to do with the liver transplant department at town as well. I am in the process of changing doctors and hospital and am scheduled for an appointment with a doctor at s Hopkins in December. Looking forward to your posts in the future. Guest guest
Hi Marilyn-- You're close by. I live in Sterling and work in Reston. My physician is Dr. Axelrad. He is the " liver guy " in a group of six gastroenterologists who are located next to Reston Hospital. The people at town are wonderful. I haven't had the pleasure of being a patient there, but my wife had a very rare oral cancer removed there almost five years ago. The drudgery of making that commute for follow ups was more than offset by the attitude of the folks who treated her. You're among a great group of professionals. Guest guest
It's still extremely early in the game for me, so outside of a little fatigue (which could just as easily be job and stress related), I don't have any noticeable physical symptoms yet. They had to send the biopsy to Armed Forces Pathology because the first lab couldn't make a conclusion. I had an ERCP a year ago that came back with only slight inflammation, but back then the enzymes were much lower than they are now. I have another ERCP planned for mid-December...those are always lotsa fun. Right now the only list I'm on is a prayer list at church. It's been humbling to see the response of the congregation thus far. I hope you get some answers tomorrow. I'll be praying for you. Tom marilyn wilson wrote: Hi Tom!
