Guest guest
is there not something less drastic you could try first?!? Many of us have found cbt type thinking to help, I worry because one you lose your hearing, it's a gone. And 4s shouldn't robe you of that Sent from my BlackBerry® smartphone on 3Sender: Soundsensitivity Date: Fri, 25 Feb 2011 17:25:06 -0800 (PST)To: <Soundsensitivity >ReplyTo: Soundsensitivity Subject: google You know how you can google ANYTHING and find an answer of some kind or a related website? Well, I found one subject with no matches on google. Today after coming home from what was supposed to be an enjoyable lunch with my husband at a nice Italian restaurant in tears because the lady at the table next to us was continually stirring her iced tea with her straw and making the ice clink in her glass, I googled "how to damage your hearing." Apparently I am the only one in the world who has ever wanted to do this because google didn't have anything on it. So I read the articles on how to protect your hearing and am going to turn them around. I listened to my ipod as loud as I could as I drove today and I guess I will take over the lawn mowing duties this summer in hopes of dulling my hearing abit. My only fear is I might damage it at the wrong frequency and then all I will be able to hear is the sounds that drive me crazy. And to show you how OCD I am to go with the 4S, I was away from the forum for about a week and ended up with about 500 unread emails and I am slowly reading all 500 of them in order because that is what I must do. Thanks for listening.
Guest guest
, I wouldn't do that if I were you. Sure, 4S is terrible, but you very well may end up with something worse. You probably won't lose your hearing but will end up with hyperacusis which is TERRIBLE. With that, every sound becomes painful (literally) to hear. Or you could develop tinnitus which is not fun either. 4S is about certain sounds but is not constant. The other two things I mentioned could be constant and you'd be much worse off than you already are. Think about the things that you like to hear. It would be a shame to not be able to enjoy those things in life because you chose to hurt your hearing. Look into CBT. It can help you. Not only with 4S but it can do wonders for your OCD... trust me, I have that too and used to be on meds for it. But now I'm not because I've learned how to deal with it on my own. > > You know how you can google ANYTHING and find an answer of some kind or a > related website? Guest guest
You're right. I just get overwhelmed by the 4s sometimes. I enjoy playing the piano and listening to my son sing in his praise band too much to want to give them up. I've never tried CBT. Going to look in to it. And I finished all 500 of the unread emails last night To: Sound sensitivity <Soundsensitivity >Sent: Fri, February 25, 2011 10:02:37 PMSubject: Re: google is there not something less drastic you could try first?!?
