Guest guest
<< YOU are what is important, the list is here to support YOU and give YOU a chance to discuss options and eating plans. >> Thanks for the post, - I really appreciate it! Guest guest
I think I'll stick to the system that my doctor, nurse, and nutritionist have set up for me. Low carb may work for some, but it is not the one and only mandatory plan. "To each his own". Can we move onto a different topic than this contentious low-carb issue? --K Weller, on the banks of the Wabash

What I really appreciate about this list is the support that is given to each other, whatever our approaches to diabetes management, rather than an advocacy of one particular perspective. I hope that our discussions can continue to be in that vein, rather than in advocating for one particular way. If you're interested in participating in a list that has extensive discussion of low carbing as a dominant topic of discussion, write me privately and I'll give you some names of lists that might fill your needs. I hope this list will continue to be one that supports each of us in our own individual manners of coping with diabetes, whether or not it includes a low carb approach. Guest guest
The only difference between fruits and vegetables is that fruit has sugar. Vegetables have all the vitamins, including vitamin C that fruit has. There are people with other medical problems that are unable to do the low carb diets. But type 2 diabetics who are relatively healthy can do it and it will control best if you can do it. You are right, fruit and veggies have identical nutrition, its just a matter of preference. I prefer the veggies, but am unable to digest most veggies, so I have to eat pureed veggies due to my other medical problem, but it can be done. I don't have a colon so the small intestine has to do all the work, now I can get all the nutrition from all the veggies I want, I just love veggies. carol
