Guest guest
I just wanted to let everyone know that Bryce is going to get his cochlear implant this Friday. We just came back from his pre-op appointment and we are ready to go. We are having to have this done at another hospital which makes me a little uneasy because all the docs know him so well at our hospital. But I think things should be fine. He had his tonsils out in July and his airway is SOOOOO much better. We are also working hard on feeding issues. We are on a waiting list for the electiric stim treatments in Cleveland but in the meantime, Bryce has become a little less aversive to tastes. He doesn't eat anything yet. He has always enjoyed sucking on cheetos and crackers but now he is somewhat willing to put a spoon in his mouth that has been dipped in milk or a chocolate milkshake. He actually reached out his tongue to taste two things yesterday. That was a first. We are doing the Beckman oral motor exercises too. I'd love to know if anyone has any ideas of specific things to try for tastes or any words of wisdom about the beginning stages of eating. Thanks.
