Guest guest
Hi everyone, I've just spent nearly 36 hours with nausea, vomiting and now a splitting headache. The headache is probably from mild dehydration, which I am now trying to correct. No more abdominal pain than usual, no fever, no other symptoms I might expect from a " bug " . Was this my first " PSC attack " do you think ? I read all the time about the cholangitis attacks which are always (?) associated with fever. I was wondering if this might have been a " sludge attack " as my gallbladder and I parted company in January ? It's been a terrible 36 hours ! Thanks for any advice. Guest guest
Pat, I feel so bad for you! I hate throwing up even once let alone 36 hours of it! It could just be a flu bug, there is one going around in our area right now. I have been lucky so far. ===== in Michigan (Dx UC 1984, Dx MISSING COLON 1999, Dx PSC 1997, PSC symptoms 2000)

Guest guest
This does not sound typical, at least in my experience. Cholangitis attacks generally involve fever, chills and URQ pain, sometimes radiating around to the back. Sounds more like a bug - please recall, I'm not a physician (just an engineer - LOTS easier). Guest guest
Pat, Sorry you have been suffering such distress. But it doesn't sound like it was cholangitis induced to me either. Or a blocked duct due to sludge. Blocked ducts are almost always accompanied by abdominal pain, and if low in the duct system so pancreas is involved, severe pain. Tim R --- " A. I've had pretty similar symptoms to this on occasion, but never for that long! (mine lasted 5-6 hours or so each time). I also had nausea, vomiting, and an extremely bad headache. In addition I had chills etc. but never a measurable temp. When I told my doctor about it he said it could have been sepsis, which my immune system was able to fight off quickly, but that if it happened again I should proceed immediately to the ER. It did happen again, and I went the the ER, but they couldn't find anything. I don't know if any of this helps you to figure out what's going on in your case, but if I had to guess I'd say some sort of bile duct blockage was the most likely candidate. If I were you I'd at least let my doctor know as soon as possible. athan
