On behalf of the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council (FDDC), I am pleased to announce that Thursday, April 7, 2005, has been designated as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Day at the Florida Capitol in Tallahassee. The theme for this year is Inclusion - in the classroom, in the workplace and in the community. Various exhibitors, whose booths will be located on the second floor rotunda of the Capitol, will help educate visitors about the challenges and opportunities before the disability community and also discuss and highlight services available to individuals with disabilities in Florida. As in past years, Developmental Disabilities Awareness Day is an appropriate time to recognize Florida's public policy accomplishments concerning the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities, as well as to identify the improvements that are needed to ensure that appropriate services are made available and accessible to all of our state's residents with developmental disabilities. A press conference will be held in conjunction with the event and everyone is cordially invited to attend and participate in this very special day. If you have any questions about Developmental Disabilities Awareness Day, download the flyer (and feel free to send it to anyone interested in participating) or contact Margaret Determann or Amelia Valencic toll-free at .
