Guest guest
Hey, Jim! I have RSD and neuropathy. I was on Neurontin, but it was not working well for me. I started on Lyrica at a low dose, I gained weight, but no pain relief to speak of. My doc upped my dosage and the pain is greatly relieved, but I cannot stand the extra weight. It's not just vanity (lol!!). My RSD is in my left leg and I know the extra weight is not helping my situation. How long did it take you to lose 100 lbs.? Congrats on that, by the way. >Tricia wrote: >The topamax does cause weight loss in many people I lost close to >100 lbs!! >Jim/de

Hi Jan - Lyrica is an anti-seizure med that has also been FDA approved for use in easing the pain of diabetic neuropathy. Since many of our other neuropathies (like radiculopathy - damage to the nerve root) are very similar to the pain of diabetic neuropathy, many are finding it helpful for various kinds of neuropathy. You can see more at their website: www.lyrica.com (Almost any brand-name drug has it's own website - usually you can find it by just typing in the drug's name followed by .com) If you aren't familiar with neuropathy (I don't remember what your condition is), it's that burning feeling we get in our legs and feet (or arms and hands) when the nerves are damaged by something. In my case, it's my legs and feet because I have lumbar spinal cord damage and herniated disks and lumbar stenosis. It feels like acid pouring down the middle of your legs and pooling in your feet. It can also create electric shock sensations, and many people also feel stinging or biting sensations, and it often feels like you're walking on knifeblades. Hope this helps.
