About the authors of Speechfun...Judith Poland, MS-SLP has spent the past 25 years teaching children with speech deficits in private practice, clinical settings and the public school system. She has owned and operated her own private school. Throughout each experience it was clear that there was a lack of easily accessible materials to support otherwise excellent programs. The support material designed for this site is intended to support users of Intellitools, Power Point, PECs, Sign language, Positive Behavior Supports , Alternative Speech Devices, Discrete Trials and programming that utilizes both Mac and Windows applications. It is classroom tested and researched based. Whaley, is a child advocate with 20 years experience in assisting families to attain the appropriate educational program to support their children with disabilities. As a parent of a child with autism, it became clear that her own son required adapted materials to enable him to demonstrate his abilities and to acquire new skills. A strong background in printing and design enabled her to create whimsical and entertaining ways for him and others to learn concepts often taught with boring drill and repetitive exercises that are not well tolerated by the children that need them most.
