Guest guest
I have always thought it was not safe to use fragrance oils in lipbalms (even if they are skin safe they are not specifically noted as lip safe), but I am now trying to research this and I do not know where to look. CTFA does not specifically mention fragrances and the FDA only mentions prohibited ingredients. Any ideas or info is appreciated. Thanks, Gillian
Guest guest
Gillian, Are you referring to flavor oils? I use FDA approved food grade flavorings in my lip balms that both scent and flavor the product. I wouldn't ever use a FO of any grade on anything that I was going to apply to the lips as it would taste awful. Certain EO's can be safely used in lip balm but usually a sweetener is needed to make them a bit more tasty. Cyndi Fragrance in lip products I have always thought it was not safe to use fragrance oils in lipbalms (even if they are skin safe they are not specifically noted as lip safe), but I am now trying to research this and I do not know where to look.
