This factors into the being a minor deal for me, as it states that no natural born minor child is eligible (guess they're thinking that expenses incurred are normal for any parent raising a child), but, if someone were to take him in tomorrow, lets' say, THAT person would get the money! This is an outrage! And going back to the " old way " before I got the money, will actually cost the state about 15,000 more per year!!! Tell me this makes sense??!! I am very sick over this, not sleeping well, can't concentrate, etc.....I won't settle down until I know what's up.....I've got mediators, advocates, etc., on it as I type this. Keep us in your prayers,
Guest guest
RE: Thank you to Jennings I saw his segment last night and, although it has been 18 months since I first began the rocky road with my daughter's school, I sat there and cried. Fortunately, I recorded it and could watch it again. My "fight" with the school was one of the worst experiences in my life, it ended with the admininstration bringing in their political beer drinking buddies who happened to have a certificate saying they knew what they were doing and rather quickly confirming there was no mold in the school--when in fact it was a big coverup: no testing, not looking in the places they should and not revealing what was growing in the window A/C units. We LOST, big time. My daughter has suffered physically and emotionally and our family has been "labeled" and treated like third class citizens. I am tempted to mail my recording of Jennings segment to the school, just to make sure they see it. I haven't written to this group for a long time, because I keep trying to forget and move on, but it has been very difficult. I hope Jennings can and will move forward with this. Guest guest
To the person who taped the episode of their daughters problem in a sick building I beg you to save a copy for yourself and mail a copy to jennings and to any one you feel will run it on the air. I have personally written to ABC.com and told them that I hoped this short segment on the Chicago school isn't the last of their stories on toxic mold. If you know people who have had a problem with mold and do not have a com puter please tell them to write to ABC,Inc 500 south Buena Vista St Burbank, California 91521 and to put a footnote that the letter is in reference to the toxic mold story on the St High School.....and ask them to continue followup stories. Most people you talk to have very little knowledge of toxic mold. They have only heard of it...Most would not believe you if you told them how dangerous it was. However if they heard it from Jennings or another famous person it becomes gospel. Subject: A Thank You to Jennings What he had reported to night on the school closings and the effects on our teachers and the children was emotional. I know this is only the beginning, but I do believe it is a good one. I do hope that he will do as he says and that is to research this deadly invasion. What I would like all of us to do is lets help him in his research. Lets flood his email with information, NOW that we finally have gotten somebodies attention and that they are really beginning to listen. Lets make sure they hear us. Can someone please locate and post his email address. Thank you all so much for what you have done. WE ARE GOING TO WIN.  KC dear kc tigerpaw, i copied the highlights of the 4/18 abc news story below. to email, just go to the website, abcnews.com, and click on "email abcnews." the reporter who worked on this feature is michelle norris. she has been nominated four times for a pulitzer prize, and it wouldn't hurt to get her on our bandwagon. yesterday, abc news reported that the cdc now says that many schools are built near toxic waste sites. maybe so, and that is terrible, but putting the onus on toxic waste might deter folks from looking at other problem areas. guess i just don't trust the cdc. keep prowlin', joanne ferdinando abc news 4/18 toxic mold story highlights: They're actually banned from school because St. ' high school, like hundreds of other schools around the country, is infested with toxic mold — millions of tiny spores that, when inhaled, can trigger a range of allergic reactions. Allergist Dr. Santilli says symptoms include pounding headaches, a fever and chills. And doctors say children are most at risk because their lungs are still developing. "We have a huge public health problem that really has to be investigated," says Santilli. The reason mold growth has reached dangerous levels in so many schools comes down to poor maintenance. Schools have failed to fix leaky roofs or have taken too much time to fix water damage caused by floods. Building maintenance has been scaled back due to budget cuts. "They have to choose between hiring teachers and buying new textbooks for maintaining the buildings," says Clem Mejia, superintendent of the Kane County Regional school district. Invisible Health Threat Although St. High School looks perfectly safe, an invisible threat confirms what many in this community long suspected: The building may have been making students sick. "I'd get migraines all the time," recalls student Hard, 17. "I was dizzy; I fainted a few times in school." Hard was a top student and talented athlete. Now respiratory problems have forced her to give up sports and miss so much school that she failed two classes. "I'm a single parent and she's been very sick," says her mother, Marsha Hard, amid tears. "I think what upsets me the most is that I'd talk to the school and no one would listen to me." Health problems associated with toxic mold have prompted dozens of schools to close their doors, forcing students to miss weeks of class. "There are no standards for molds," says one St. parent, Villwock, whose son developed respiratory problems. "We have regulatory guidelines set for lead, asbestos and radon. Now if we had any of the above, we would have been closed down."But because there aren't regulatory guidelines on these molds, the school wasn't shut down when it was first detected. "We're angry, especially when you are battling this for years and years. This just didn't appear yesterday," she says. "This is a national crisis in our public schools." And it's a crisis with a big price tag. Cleanup can cost millions, as schools remove ceiling tiles and rip out walls — battling a menace that you can't always see -- . Guest guest
Lori - I have recently read the " out of sync child " and it may be that your child is reacting to something physically. i.e. it may be sensory related but only on one side. Maybe he doesn't want to touch the floor, or his socks are bothering him, etc. It may disappear. My daughter holds her groin a lot but it comes and goes. I don't know what it is because she's not verbal either but she used to do this against a chair. Sounds crazy but it's just a thought. in Ajax, Ontario [ ] Digest Number 842 > >
