When looking for insurance, it will vary greatly depending on where you

manufactor your products. A lot of soapmakers use RLI, Bomba Insurance. Here

is

the link: _http://www.soapequipment.com/ltmolds/loaf_traymolds.html_

My understanding is Bomba will only insure if you make it in your home or no

less than 100' from the house (like if you had an outbuilding). It is really

cheap..somewhere around $250/yr. If you go to the Handmade Beauty Network

at _http://www.handmadebeauty.com/_ (http://www.handmadebeauty.com/) , Donna

offers a special rate insurance for homecrafters, but you have to be a

member of HBN, which might be around a hundred bucks (haven't checked it out

in awhile) But you can get rates first before signing up with HBN to see if

it is the way you want to go.

NOW...if you make your products off-site, that is a whole new ball of e-wax.

You are looking at huge insurance rates..in the thousands of dollars for

product liability etc.

You might try and look around locally to see if you can find insurance.

Good luck and I hope this helped you out some.

This list is/has been one of the best I am on.

Perhaps the members are not reading email at this time ... it's our busy

season.

I have been working 18 hours a day for the past 5 weeks.

Did you try a search in the message archive?

The subject of liability insurance has been discussed on an almost monthly

basis on most of the soap lists I am on.

Call a local ins. agent and ask if they will get with RLI and write you a

policy.

Do a google for Ken Bomba ... he writes the RLI policy in a number of

states. (Bomba Agency)

I got mine years ago by dropping into an independent ins. brokers office and

advising him who the underwriter was and he got me the policy within a week.

Be aware that candles ARE NOT covered in the RLI policy.

HTH,

Bobbi Guerra - who is recovering from weeks of making soap on a daily basis

and is now ready for back to back shows for the next three weeks.

I'm looking into RLI. I didn't post anything as I don't have any real info

yet. I know an insurance broker, a fellow women's network member who will

be evaluating the plan for me.
