It could well be the lupus itself causing the hair loss because lupus is

an auto-immune disease and can attack the hair follicles. It could also be

the drugs she is taking to control the lupus. either way she would be

best to go back to her doctor and get advice there. Traditional hair-loss

herbs include box (Buxus species) and rosemary, both applied as infusions

in water not as essential oils.

totally bald as a result - all over!

I have heard from several people that lavender and rosemary oil in olive oil

(infusion?) rubbed into the scalp would help grow hair back. Like most

statements that begin with " I have heard... " it should be taken with a grain of

salt. A good friend let me try it on his head...once....LOL, but he couldn't

take

the ribbing from his kids or us about his new fragrance. Others swear it

will work.

Hi Cheryl and Pat,

I know lupus is a pretty bad disease, and my sis in law was

informally diagnosed with it two years ago. She is not on any

medications for it as the diagnosis was somewhat inconclusive. I

guess its hard to get a firm yes you have it or no you dont. Anyway,

she is going to the doctor next week.

The hair loss just started a few weeks ago, and has really thrown her

for a loop. She is using pure Shea butter on her skin because of a

bad rash also, but so far its only helped a little. I am going to try

a few different oils with her for her hair and see if we can at least

slow down the process, and then after that, I think i may just buy

her a nice wig.

I appreciate everyone's advice.
