Hello one and all,

Just wanted to introduce myself, seeing that I'm new to this group.

I'm no stranger to BFL, though--the last time I did BFL was back in

2003. I really enjoyed the whole process and found the

transformation of my body and mind to be quite empowering and

satisfying (even if I did only make it to day 73).

But, with the stressors of finishing my residency program, finding a

job, and moving to another state (and regretting that move and

hating that job), I allowed myself to succumb to an extended pity

party. Yes, a self-sabotaging party of one, lasting for nearly two

years--hosted by moi, serving up elegant excuses for NOT exercising

and numerous days and nights of stress eating and potato chip

binges.

It wasn't that I forgot everything BFL (or even medical school or

residency) had taught me, I was just really good at putting the

knowledge aside--like some kind of discarded and dirty laundry.

Well, now's the time to pick up that dirty laundry and get it clean

once and for all. I'm 32 years old, and if I continue to ignore my

health, I'm sure to end up like all the rest of my family--pushing

up daisies in my sixties.

I can hardly wait to get started tomorrow morning. My journal is

filled out completely, and my first upper body workout awaits. In a

short 12 weeks, I will have lost a necessary 20 pounds of belly flab

and gained some much needed muscle, self-confidence, and self-love.

And, hopefully, with our support and mutual encouragement, I will

have gained many " friends for life " .

If there is anything that I can do to be a source of support for any

of you, or if you just have a medical/training question, please feel

free to e-mail me at michael_bfl101@...

Here's wishing you all my best for a day filled with good nutrition,

positive thoughts, and training " high points " .
