Guest guest
Angie, Thank you....... how do you make a lip balm just have a soft pink/beige shimmer colour? ----- How about a nice mica? That is the perfect way to get a shimmer. number 2 being: Shea butter...... this was the most absolutely rich whip cream on earth...... I was thinking how marvelous it would be to come up with something that combined the 2. ------ Well now, funny you say that, can you find " CRAFTCLASS " group on Yahoo? They just did a class awhile back for whipped creme. Also I received a recipe for " Whipped Shea " from this lady http://www.hillcountryhaiku.biz when I bought some shea from her. You could easily incorporate some soy into your Whipped Creme or Whipped Shea, half the fun is experimenting. I am waiting for my arrival from TBG to begin my delve into the world of lotions & cremes....is it necessary to have a stick blender? Can you use a Kitchen Aid mixer, or what is the feeling for this whip cream consistency I would like to find? dakota ---- I personally only use a hand blender but then again I'm not making huge batches. I don't sell my lotions, just use for myself and family due to the " sue " factor that is out there. Call me chicken, LOL Hope that helps Angie

Guest guest
HI there You can use a kitchen aid but a blender is better. I just finished a batch of cream last night that gave me fits because I decided to use my kitchen aid instead of my blender. I adore my kitchen aid and wanted to try it. If you do use your kitchen aid heat the bowl before you put the oils in! I didn't and had problems with the beeswax solidifying on the sides too quickly to be blended and then had to reheat the whole mixture. If you have a regular blender (like margarita style) use that first and drizzle your water mixture into the oils while they are blending. Blend until smooth and then let it rest and cool a bit. Leave it for about 10 minutes and then blend again when it goes all white and creamy then transfer it to your kitchen aid (it's an extra step I know but well worth it). Now set your kitchen aid on it's highest setting and whip like mad! The cream comes out all fluffy and lovely. Good luck Stone jennamoondancer@... Soy Wax + Shea Butter = GLORIOUS........help?!!! Guest guest
You're right about it not emulsifying, I had to reheat my batch of cream and put it in my blender to get it to blend right. I had tiny gritty chunks of beeswax in it. I'm not sure how reheating other blends would work but I discovered that this particular blend after being reheated actually came out creamier than before. Once I had it blended right I put in in the kitchen aid (after I gently warmed the bowl) and whipped it and it turned out beautiful though. ANyone have any ideas on why a batch that has been reheated like that would change like that? It worked out for the better and it was a pleasant surprise but I'm curious to why it did it. Blessings Jenna jennamoondancer@... Re: Soy Wax + Shea Butter = GLORIOUS........help?!!! is it necessary to have a stick blender? Can you use a Kitchen Aid mixer, or what is the feeling for this whip cream consistency I would like to find? dakota I've been using a stick blender for two years or so,making creams and lotions, and three days ago I used a mixer instead (just had cts surgery 6 weeks ago)-and totally ruined a 54 ounce batch of lotion. It just did not emulsify as well as with the blender. Also, if you are going to make a whipped shea formula, you might want to immediately put the mixture of oils/water in an ice water bath-- it seems like shea butter is bad about crystalizing unlessyou chill the emulsion quickly. I have, however, never used wax with whipped shea-it might prevent the shea from forming crystals. Also, shea butter whips are melted very easily-as in -I wouldn't ship it in summer. but I think others do.
