There are more than 8 major fires all around San Diego and one is just about 8 - 10 miles from me with lots of dry brush and homes inbetween. It is a major disaster. All plane flights leaving San Diego have been canceled and incoming flights are being diverted to Phoenix. Many homes lost already and several deaths. It is very frightening. There seems to be a fire at every point north and south and they are being fanned by hot, fast and furious Santa Ana winds. I am prepared if the order comes for evacuation with just the important things in my life at hand. Take care, everyone. You never know when your life could change in any given moment. The air is filled with soot, smoke and ashes. It is a weird yellow smoky colour and I can smell the smoke. We we all set to evacute here a few years back, because of a forest fire, and I know, nothing is more frightening. Worst thing now, out there, is that is sounds like they were arson fires. We are surrounded by fire in 3 directions, but really at no risk of evacuation yet. The 8 fires have become 3, and they think those 3 will merge by midnight tonight. Who else lives here? It's horrible, like standing in a campfire. I'm in one of the few areas that can see blue sky overhead and it's still miserable. Jan, please let me know if I can help.
