The hospital obviously just churning the money maker. Nonsense! Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®Sender: Date: Thu, 31 Mar 2011 14:26:12 -0400To: < >ReplyTo: Subject: Love my local Hospital This is a good one.Got a call from a provider at my local hospital (top 10 in the country). They wanted to arrange for follow up for one of my patients for pharyngitis. I assumed he went to the ED, beats me why as usual. And, as usual, they promise to send records and I am still waiting.Patient came today, seems that he was admitted for 3 days. He went for some CP (22 year old) and throat pain. Got " 2 liters of blood taken " (most likely he exaggerates), put on oxygen, CT'd and discharged after a throat swab (no records available) on a Z-pack.Patient has been treated for GERD, even EGD 6 months ago with esophagitis. Had stopped his PPI, against better advice, and the night before had spicy chicken for dinner. How smart do you need to be to figure that one out.I guess, no one even bother asking about past medical history in the ED or the floor.Worse part is I try to explain to this young man, for the 4th time, reflux precautions and GERD and the answer I get is: " if it is just that, why would they keep me in the hospital for 3 days and do all this testing? " I had to truly tell him " I don't know " . from the Barrio
