Most formularies for hospitals and HMOs support pill cutting. Ultimately, it makes no difference. You have to reduce a drug to get off it and this is the only way to do it if a smaller dose is not made. The small differences in dose because of irregluar size make little to no difference. If you can't cut your pill any smaller and cannot get the liquid, you have no choice but to dissolve it in liquid -- either hot liquid or a carbonated liquid in order to completely dissolve it.
