Dear Neeti, the recovery time varies for each person. I am only just

getting back to some sort of normality after 18 months, but was on my

feet within 4 days of the surgery. It depends what you would call

" normal " (I still have fizzy tingly feet, occasional dull thuds of back

pain, swelling ankles, deformed feet - mmm, not quite so " normal " as I

would like!!)

Are you sure of your neurosurgeon? Are you writing from India, or where

do you live? What is the anaesthesia provision for your surgery, if you

are so worried about the " vegetable for life " scenario (very unlikely

indeed!)

Any neurosurgery has risks but you have to weight these up against the

benefits of arresting any further neurological deterioration (bladder

control, walking ability, etc etc).

Let us know how you get on

Hi everyone,

Have known for 1 year that i have a TCS... Am contemplating surgery...Is it true

that there are a lot of risks associated with adult TCS Surgery ?

Is there some permanently irreversable damage. I had lost pastial control of

bladder but with some medicines and rest have gained back some of it...

I am an Indian and am really scared that the DR will botch up the job and that

i'll be vegetable for ever..

Also, what is the recovery time after such a surgery. Am applying for my masters

in europe and dont want to mis-time the whole thing !!

Love,

Neeti
