Guest guest
Hi, My sister gave me the wrong diagnosis. The correct diagnosis is in the above-subject line. My question is: Could this be an indication if cirrhosis. Would you good people write back asap. Her next step is a sonogram. This was ordered after a CT scan. Thank you - Bonnie
Guest guest
Bonnie - the appearance of scarring on a CT scan is certainly reason for checking into it further. Cirrhosis is scarring of the liver. For most people however, the only definitive test for cirrhosis is a biopsy which they will probably order if they get the same results on the sonogram. I don't remember having a sonogram after my CT scan before they did the biopsy, but every doctor is different. Guest guest
Cirrhosis is defined as scarring. I too am curious as to why they would do a sonogram as its not near as definitive as a CTScan. They will definitely do a needle biopsy if they suspect cirrhosis. Its necessary to determine the etiology of the cirrhosis. There are many causes and types, If caught early and with life style changes some scarring can be arrested or even reversed. There is treatment if she has HepC., There is Cirrhosis from Nash, which is Fatty Liver that has run amuck. There is s disease and of course Alcohol related cirrhosis, etc. So once the cause and severity of the disease is determined you will know a lot more. Please keep us informed and we are praying for your sister. God Bless, Debra > > Hi, > My sister gave me the wrong diagnosis. Guest guest
The short answer is.....YES. However, the fact that it appears to be confined to the upper right quadrant of the liver is encouraging. The less liver tissue is involved in the scarring the better the prognosis. Praying for both of you. Be sure to let us know how the sonogram and CT go. On Thu, Apr 8, 2010 at 11:52 AM, bonnie_calgaro wrote: > > > Hi, > My sister gave me the wrong diagnosis.
