Guest guest
I have the same high tolerance for pain. I had natural child birth and did not think it was too bad. My cousin was dx with juvenile rhuematoid arthritis. The way it was explained is that she has always know this pain, so she has adapted to it. Anything at a lesser level, is not bad enough for her body to register as painful. Perhaps those who have painful something everyday or very often, do not notice it after a while. I think this is partly due to the fact that I have had to live with the Chiari headaches from as far back as I can remember, and partly because I am allergic to all the pain meds I have ever taken (I've just had to come off the epilepsy medication they were using in am attempt to control the pain, as I came out in another allergic rash). > > I have found that when I do actually complain about the pain, it has risen to a level that is totally unbearable - I seem to be able to ignore it until then. Recently, I had been bothered by a pain in my lower back, that got worse over a period of 2 days. I can remember saying to a friend that it was getting unbearably bad - and the next thing was that I had blacked out - and my doctor feels that the only thing that could have happened is that my body shut down in response to the extremely high level of pain. > > My family has learned that I can cope with my condition, and the associated pains, etc. pretty well, but that if I say something to them about a headache or pain, then they know that it is really bad. > > Bye for now, > Helen > Brisbane, Aust. > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ WACMA Site: http://www.pressenter.com/~wacma Your Personal support group member page: http://www.eGroups.com/group/chiari/ **Avoid List Congestion: Unsubscribe from this list: mailto:chiari-unsubscribeegroups Contact list mgmt: mailto:chiari-owneregroups
