Guest guest
- Well, I'd just call those two weeks your " off season " and go on! I don't know if that silly competition is still in October or NOT!! I'm still tossing around doing that OR running the Chicago marathon. The marathon is cheaper and I KNOW that it isn't getting cancelled. I don't know that I could do BOTH, but we'll see as I get back into shape (grrrrrr). Kelley - still going strong!!! As for me, three days, three runs here, a little under 10 miles for the week so far, a little over 10 to go. I took it a little easier this morning, only 2.3 miles or so. Tomorrow I'm going to do a couple laps around Nichol Knoll and up and down Payton Hill a couple times, see how that goes. Laid back run on Friday, long run Saturday. I didn't realize it but the next race I was going to do is THIS weekend, and I can't afford to go. Oh well, there are races all summer long pretty much every weekend within a couple hours from here. Monday, forgot my lifting gloves, Tuesday...horrid nasty disaster of a day at work, but today, things are looking better so I should be able to get in my upper body workout, lower tomorrow and another upper Friday! They are kind of bunched together but since I'm more concerned about preserving muscle than gaining it, that should be fine. Nutrition has been spot on... getting enough sleep... still keeping the caffeine intake as low as possible (not easy because I am seriously feeling the 1500+ calorie deficit.) One of my key motivators is that the pool is open in our complex and I want to go hang out there but NOT be like the blobs I see laying around it. Hoping to have time to play tennis tonight. It is rough on my stupid injured ankle (which woke me up at 1:40am to make me take some advil), but fun. Whatever this ankle injury is, it doesn't bother me much when I run but hurts pretty much all the time otherwise. Oh well, I think I just twisted it or something. It isn't changing my movement pattern much. Quick shoe review - just got New Balance 991s. Too damned heavy in my opinion, but good training shoes because my feet aren't hurting and no shin splints, either. If you have narrower feet with high arches and don't overpronate, they are good. -Lianne
