" Ugly Duckling " Sign: Early Melanoma Recognition Tool After reading this long article at Medscape site I have decided that everyone in medicine has forgotten the KISS principle. “Keep it Simple Stupid” Basically the concept they are describing is something that anyone who watched an episode or two of Sesame Street as a child is well acquainted with. It took the authors 10 pages of big words and multiple tables, graphs and pictures to basically describe what the Sesame Street regulars explained with the song “Which one Doesn’t Belong Here” . Sesame street used the song to teach preschoolers how to identify likes and differences in the objects they encounter. Basically this “Ugly Duckling Sign” is saying the same thing about identifying abnormal nevi. No wonder the average public has a negative attitude about healthcare in general. Dr. Beth Sullivan, DO
