Guest guest
Howdy folks, So, I guess I have a workout buddy now. My husband works out with a friend from college and his friend's girlfriend is now working out with me. All four of us are the gym at the same time usually so I guess it makes sense. But, it is kind of weird though – the whole thing was kind of set up by our men folk (and kind of sprung on me!). She doesn't have much experience weight lifting, so I am demonstrating the exercises then letting her do them. I feel weird correcting her form or if I do a heaving weight then her – I feel like I am saying " Ha ha! I am the weightlifting Goddess! " or something but that is something I will need to get over or neither of us will progress very well. Plus, we had to join a new gym as the one we used to go to is closing so last night was the first night in the new gym and I'm trying to figure out which machines to use now and where they are plus dealing with new girl. Our UBWO took forever. But, I think I have a much better handle on things now so I am looking forward to the next session. And even though it seems kind of weird, it is nice to have someone to hold me accountable. So, today I am going to e-mail her the workout log sheets along with more information. I will probably go ahead and make a folder for her too to keep her own sheets in. Last night I was writing down what she did, but she needs to start doing that – because that way she'll be in more tune with her own progress and will `own' her workouts more. I can't tell her when she needs to go down or up – she needs to know that for herself – right? So, that is the plan for today. We will do LBWO tomorrow. I think I will also loan her my BFL book to read. On a BFL unrelated note, work has gotten way more stressful all of a sudden. We had 2 women doing a certain job and they both put in their notices and have the same last day – June 11th. We are trying to find someone with experience to do this job – someone we can `plug and play' basically but it looks like there might be a week where we don't have anyone. So my boss called me into his office on Monday and was like " You know how you have wanted more responsibility at the office? Well, we need something from you… " Basically, they are cross training me to learn the core functions of that job so that I can be the `duct tape' to keep things from falling completely apart until we get someone new in. So, very stressful – my day is divided between my job and learning the other job. Oy vey. I am coming home pretty exhausted, and in the past, that would have meant lounging on my butt watching TV all night but in reality, that just breeds more exhaustion (kind of weird, huh?). So, I am making an effort to channel my stress into more productive things like working out which breeds energy! So, that is my update. If anyone has any training suggestions for me to use with my new workout buddy, I am all ears! Have a great day! Heidi
