Guest guest
Welcome to the group! As for music, I found that the best musical sound that soothes me fast is from an album called In the Om Zone, by Halpern. The song is Om Zone, Part 1. I recorded it and then looped it for about 23 minutes so I can listen to it for quite a while. It's soooo soothing. And animal sounds or most natural sounds do not bother me (animal/nature-related vs. electronic or human-related) but sometimes my female cat will cry incessantly and it's very loud and piercing and that will get on my nerves if she doesn't stop. She constantly begs and gets into that mode sometimes and I want to scream and DO, quite often, to make her stop. Other than that, I adore my cats and all the sounds they make including purring, scratching in their box, eating, slurping water, etc. But that's just me. > > Hi all, I cannot believe there is actually a website for crazy people like me, I thought I was the only one! Yippee but also boohoo to all you poor people suffering like me. > > I find getting absolutely hammered cancels out any symptoms completely. Shame I cannot afford to be drunk 24/7 lol > > I think working alone or in a small group helps. I am a self employed painter & decorator and I am fine as long as I have a background noise like the radio which reaffirms what a lot of people are saying about music being therapeutic. > > Does anybody get irritated by animal/pet noises ie scratching, drinking? >

Guest guest
Yes, a number of people here have commented that alcohol is one of the few things that reduces or removes our reactions to trigger sounds. Alcohol is rather complex - it affects a number of different areas in the brain - so it is not at all clear which aspect of alcohol is helping the most with 4S. Dogs drinking would certainly trigger me - and dogs licking themselves. Scratching wouldn't be a high-level trigger for me, but I can well imagine that it is for some other people here. > > Hi all, I cannot believe there is actually a website for crazy people like me, I thought I was the only one! Guest guest
Welcome to the group! Yes, one of my trigger sounds is my dog licking her paws... and the blanket, couch, air... you name it, she licks it. I swear she is obsessed with licking. But, I love the little rascal. I just keep some stuffed toys handy and if she licks excessively, she gets wacked with a toy. She thinks I'm playing and stops the licking. > > Hi all, I cannot believe there is actually a website for crazy people like me, I thought I was the only one!
