We have quite a few people who've recently joined or started posting

to the list, and several of you have asked about supplements. I'm

going to answer all of you in one fell swoop, and then ask

to get into more specifics.

Choosing supplements is a very individualized process. Each body is

unique to start with, and we have all had different things affecting

us as we've gone through life, so there is no cookbook way of doing

this.

We can get everybody started with a protocol here on the list. Beyond

that, people with more complex cases may want to do a private

consultation with . She makes this available to everyone, as

she does not charge a set fee. Instead, she asks that you pay what

you can afford based on what you would have to pay for comparable

services in your area. If you are interested in a private consult,

please post your request to the list.

That said, there are a few supplements that everybody needs to start

repairing the damage from the drugs. Magnesium, calcium and fish oil

are three of the biggies. Below is some info to get you started.

(Feel free to read all the articles under " Supplements " in the " Files "

section for more info. See also the " Basic Healing Protocol. " )

Magnesium -- IF your kidneys are healthy, you can take 250-400 mg of

magnesium citrate or magnesium taurate twice a day.

Magnesium has a nice calming effect.

Calcium -- IF your kidneys are healthy, you can take calcium (liquid

capsules, nothing added to it), 500 mg twice a day.

Calcium aslo has a nice calming effect.

(You can alternate the calcium and magnesium. Take one of them, then

four hours later take the other. Take the first one four hours after

that, then take the second one four hours later. This will spread the

calming effect of these two minerals throughout your day.)

Fish Oil -- I'm pasting in a brief article by that can be

found in the Files:

I recommend two brands of fish oil because of the quality of them.

Fish oil that smells is rancid. This will do you more harm than good.

I recommend only Carlson's fish oil or Coromega fish oil. It costs

more but you get high quality that is safe to use, and a more

concentrated dose of EPA and DHA in each dose. This makes it less

expensive than it appears to be because you are using less of it than

you would another inferior product (see below).

When it comes to supplements, it pretty much holds that you get what

you pay for. Virtually all of the les expensive vitamins tend to give

you poor quality vitamins and minerals. For example, synthetic vitamin

E is called dl-tocopherol. It is useless. You want mixed tocopherols

for Vit E.

This is why I make specific recommendations. Anything I mention by

brand is of high quality and well-tried unless I state that I haven't

had much experience with it.

Carlson's Liquid OMEGA 3 Fish Oil is regularly tested using AOAC

international protocols for potency and purity by an independent, FDA

registered laboratory and found to be free of detectable levels of

mercury, cadmium, lead, PCB's and 28 other contaminants.

Supplement Facts Serving size: 1 tsp (5 ml)

Amount per teaspoon

Omega-3 Fatty Acids (from fish oil) 1600 mg Vitamin E (Natural d-alpha

tocopherol) 10 mg DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) 500 mg EPA

(Eicosapentaenoic Acid) 800 mg DPA, ALA and Moroctic Acid (omega-3

fatty acids) 300 mg

(a 500 mL bottle cost approximately $30 and gives you 100 doses. The

dose you get of EPA in most fish oil supplements, including GNC, is

180 mg. The dose of DHA is 120 mg. As you see above, Carlson's gives

you almost 4.5 times more EPA and slightly over four times more DHA in

one dose. You would have to take 4 GNC caps a day to come close to

this. You can buy GNC 180 softgels for $13.49 at www.drugstore.com.

This would give you 45 doses for $13.49, 90 doses for 26.98, and 100

doses for about $30--the same price as Carlson's. )
