Happy New Year! + my update

Happy New Year to all the regulars and the newly joined BFLers.

I want to share my starting point for the new year. I had caliper

skinfold measurements taken this morning and I'm pretty happy with

most of the results. A year ago I weighed 155 with a bodyfat

percentage (as calculated by the BFL website calculator) of 15.4%,

which gave me a lean mass of 131.8 lb. As of this morning my weight

is up to 170.2 lb but my bodyfat has dropped to 9.6%. That

translates into a lean mass of 155.6 lbs. So in the past year I

have gained about 24# of muscle and lost about 9# of fat.

My goals now become probably a little harder to achieve. I'd like

my weight to remain just about what it is but I want my bodyfat

percentage to drop to around 6% by the end of the school year (1st

week of June).

I bought myself a Christmas present of a 1-year membership in my

local fitness center and I plan to utilize it at least 4 and

hopefully 6 days per week. I hope to eat a bit cleaner than I have

in the past year.

Now a note to the newcomers. I can't praise the BFL program

enough. It is MARVELOUS! I don't claim at all to be a rigid

eater. I have trouble getting my fat intake down into the 20%

range, and I also have been known to 'binge' on sweets from time to

time. But the power of the BFL program is so strong, that as long

as one sticks with it, following it as closely as possible the

majority of the time, one WILL make progress. I have made solid

progress over the past year and a half, even with my failures.

Good luck to all of the folks starting or continuing their programs

in 2006.

Bruce
