Guest guest
When you say the "sound of the snow", are you referring to the crunching sound it makes under your own feet or the sound it makes under other people's feet? If it's the sound of it hitting the ground, you may want to move to Florida. :)None of the sounds that drive us up the wall have an effect on me when I'm making the sounds. But if it's someone else doing it, I get aggravated. Also, I don't get irritated if the sound is made by an animal. For example, a neighbor in the office used to eat a bag of baby carrots every morning. It was a quiet office and I was completely fixated and useless while he was eating. But I'd come home and give my dog a few carrots and wouldn't be annoyed. There's an Aflac Insurance commercial currently that shows the duck eating paper. When I hear the paper being eaten, I have a reaction. As soon as I see it's the duck, it doesn't bother me any more.I'm assuming this is because I expect people to be considerate of others around them while I don't expect the same of animals.Do Pringles or Twix commercials bother anyone? Not sure why I have to listen to people eat, but marketers seem to think it's important. Now I'm ranting, but just one more: It doesn't bother me when someone unwraps a candy bar in the movie theater. It does bother me when they partially unwrap it a little more before taking each bite. Do I really have to "share" their entire snack? Couldn't they just unwrap it, remove the candy bar, and consume it without being a distraction? To: Soundsensitivity Sent: Mon, January 31, 2011 12:48:32 PMSubject: How can I block the sounds of..walking in the snow, and chip bags being touched Hello Everyone! I am so happy to know that there is a group for people with the 4S's. I live in Canada, and at this moment in time it is winter, and when I go to work I always have my Ipod on, but I can still her the sounds of the snow and it's driving me crazy, do you know if there is something that I can do to try and block the sound? The music on my IPod is very loud and I can still hear it. As for chip bags, when I go grocery shopping and I am in the chip isle, it seems like there always has to be someone who needs to play with the bags of chips before deciding on which one to buy? Other than leaving the isle and going back later, is there something that I can do? I have been dealing with for so long, that I have no idea what to do, other than holding back the urge to scream.. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Tracey
Guest guest
Oh I can really relate to the chip bag thing. For me also, the only thing that seems to help is making the noise myself. I A bothered by animals making noises though..such as a dog slurping water...ahhhhh...makes me want to throw something. I didn't used to be but it seems to have progressed over the years to more and more triggers. I am new here also...just found the group..before that had no clue whatsoever there were others like me.. good to know I'm not crazy! Guest guest
I broke up with a pretty little blond because I couldn't stand listening to her big dog slurping water and eating crunchy hard dog food and panting. It was 10 times louder than human sounds. Drove me insane!! ML.
