Guest guest
I was thinking the same thing. The " before " and " after " pictures inspire me and I'm not just talking about my own. Andy Perhaps I could also say that the " before " pictures inspire me to keep working at looking and feeling great. > > Z.

Guest guest
Wow!, Icame across this postand I hesistate to respond, but It is partof what make me so here it goes....... I am a mommy of 3 beautiful children who I adore. My oldest Holli, was a sassy lil thing, full of life. Always busy, and comin up with the wierdest stuff. She was diagnosed with cancer when she was 4 and died 14 months later, she never had a chance to be fat, lazy, depressed, married, blah, blah. The entire time she was fighting the cancer in her body if it weren't for that beautiful bald head, you would have never known. She never complained and complied with all the poking and prodding the docs needed to do to tryand help her get well. I don't think I need to get into how horrible it was for me after she died. There are many months that in retrospec are like some blurry haze. Then one day 5 months after she had been gone I looked into the faces of my baby boy and his older brother (Josh was 3 days old when Holli was diagnosed) and I knew somehow I had to snap out of it.....for them. They needed their mama to be ok. I had ballooned to 210 pounds at that point and was very out of shape, physically and emotionally. Although there were times I felt like it, my life was not over. Those little boys pulled me out of the darkest time of my life. Who inspires me? Their names are and ph, my little men. I will be healthy enough to keep up with those little crazies for many years to come. They deserve at least that much. In those moments when I am working out and want to whine about how early it is or how hard it is, I see Holli's smiling face and remember that girl smiling through some of the most God awful things in her journey to get better.........It reminds me I have no room to complain if a little 5 year old girl can go through what she did with no complaints. Well, that was a little deeper than I like to go normally, but it is part of what drives me. [: " >] Machelle > > I guess there is no one person that I can say inspired me; it was going to my first competition as a spectator and seeing those young gals up on stage and my saying " I can do that, and I'm gonna " . Fitness has no age limit, so I thought " why not " . I had busted my butt the previous 5 months, and this gave me something to work towards. I dispise doing mindless workouts and all that is related, even tho it made me look and feel better. I need to have a goal, something to look forward to and this was it. The compliments I receive from total strangers is worth all I put into the fitness " project " . As I have said before, if I feel like I am " slipping " all I need to do is take out my " before " pictures and that IMMEDIATELY gets my mind back on track, because I do not EVER want to look like that again. Perhaps I could also say that the " before " pictures inspire me to keep working at looking and feeling great. > > Z. > >

Guest guest
Machelle, Your story is powerful. Every time I read about someone losing a child, I just can't imagine how they survive. As Brett mentioned, also lost a daughter to cancer (leukemia) less than two years ago. I think you are both heros to be able to pull it together for those other young'uns depending on you each and every day. I'm glad you have found the strength to come alive and get healthy and LIVE! Thanks for your very honest and personal sharing. Kelley Run2Liv
