There is no mention of this in the “Testosterone treatment of male hypogonadism” section of UpToDate. If it is true, I highly doubt that it is of any clinical significance. dts From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of drhorvitzSent: Sunday, March 20, 2011 7:39 AMTo: Subject: Re: testosterone :) no no this is serious I have been told that the injectable form of testosterone gets converted into estrogen to a much greater degree than dermal preparations. Is this true? Horvitz, D.O.stown, NJ> > > > I draw it up with an 18 g needle, and switch to a 27 g to inject (for the one patient I give IM testosterone to). It takes a minute or two to inject it, but the patient swears it is much less painful. Not for a provider with arthritic or weak hands, however. > > > > dts> > > > From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of > Sent: Friday, March 18, 2011 6:47 AM> To: > Subject: testosterone :) no no this is serious> > > > Hi> I do not give testosterone too much New patient says last nurse used a 22 g needle to give it but he is unable to give it at home andI agree 22 is really small fo r this thick stuff I have no 20 g needles here now, and while 18 worked and 21 g barely worked I am thinking to buy some 20 g needles ANyone who does this want to give me any advice thanks> Jean> > -- > > > > MD> > > ph fax > <http:///> > > > > > -- > > > > MD> > > ph fax > <http:///>>

,

You know I am a big hockey fan and therefore I am half up on things Canadian. The moment I saw your name I immediately thought of a long time player, Sylvan Cote. So when you speak of your French Canadian heritage it makes me smile as, "Ya I got it". BTW, is part French Canadian as well. There were some Duponts on her mom's side of the family. So she is either related to some very rich industrialist which I wish we could get connected up and put in the will or she is related to one of the Dirtiest and most hated Philidelphia Flyers, "Moose" Dupont, which just might make this NY Rangers fan pass out in shame.... Have a great night Ms. or should I say Doctor Cote???

No, have never been to Mass. Cote' is my maiden name, Great grandfather ( or further back) from Quebec, to S. Dakota to marry a Sioux maiden. Cote' is a VERY common name there, I am told, haven't been there either.

I couldn't find anything about needle size and Depo-Provera.

Although the standard prefilled syringe comes with a 22g 1 1/2 " needle.

http://media.pfizer.com/files/products/uspi_depo_provera_contraceptive.pdf

DOSAGE FORMS AND STRENGTHS

Sterile Aqueous suspension: 150mg/ml

Prefilled syringes are available packaged with 22-gauge x 1 1/2 inch BD SafetyGlideTM Needles.

I couldn't find anything with a quick search on testosterone.
